I’m voting for Troy Jackson in Maine hopefully he beats Collins. Going to go out canvassing and call some people so that if he loses I can’t say I didn’t try.

I ordered a pair of boots from Mexico, they were shipped with all of the correct paperwork and should not have been tariffed at all. It added ~$60 to the original cost of $170.

When you submit a tariff refund request they warn you multiple times that if your submission is rejected you will be charged $100 per submission. It can be rejected for making a mistake on the paperwork even if they find the tariff was applied incorrectly. I almost didn’t submit for it, and a lot of people won’t but I decided to risk it. That was a few months ago and I still haven’t heard back.

The Kik thing wasn’t that serious. Most people would just go on tinder or another dating app to cheat but living in rural Maine that’s a recipe for getting caught. He probably used Kik for its global reach, not because he’s one of the awful users you hear about. Even more relevant to Platner, there are sub Reddits dedicated to meeting other consenting adults via Kik (Or at least there used to be, I haven’t checked in years).

People are the worst.

I get the idea of risks being managed but when the risk is my cat dying an early death I do not think it is ever worth it. I had outdoor cats for most of my childhood when I lived somewhere with less car traffic and a manageable level of risk. The longest my cats ever lived was maybe 8 years, and she’d had multiple run-ins with other cats that left them scarred and beat up by the end.

I just don’t think the danger is worth it when the danger is the premature death of a loved one (cat).

Oh jeez I forgot about gators, we got fuckin dinosaurs hunting outdoor cats in some states.

I live in Maine, the primary killer of outdoor cats is cars #1 followed by trucks then the weather. A little north from me bears, bobcats and lynx become a problem.

I’d like to defend the Americans who keep their cats indoors and strongly oppose outdoor cats. If you live in most areas of the US your cat has a good chance of being eaten by a larger predator. It’s pretty normal for cats to be attacked by coyotes, bobcats, feral dogs, birds of prey and even raccoons. All of those predators and worst of all humans in cars, we have a lot of them and we go fast. I am part of a couple community FB groups and they’ll get a post a week of a dead cat found on the roadside. If it sounds like our roads are just covered with dead animals, you are right. There is death on every shoulder.

You’re either trying to ragebait or haven’t actually looked into him and his history at all. Either way you’re wrong, its very obvious he is not and never has been sociopath.

It’d be rough for me if I ran for major office no doubt.

Specifically about the tattoo: I grew up orthodox Jewish and went to school (a yeshiva) across the street from a Holocaust museum and used to go there all the time. I did not know what the toten kopf was until Graham Platner got called out in it. I’m also into tattoo culture and have come close to getting a similar style skull because it was cool and piratey.

Seems a lot of people have only seen his tattoo or heard about his reddit comments. I encourage you to watch some of his long form interviews or campaign events. The guy is demanding real change from the neoliberal norm and so threatens their sovereignty over the party, I’d be surprised if they ever endorse him.

Whether or not you’re from Maine, if all you’ve seen is his controversies then you’re in a specific news echo chamber that does not want to share his policies.

The first lender I spoke with when buying a house told me to lie on my application and tell the bank the unliveable property I cosigned on with my brother was my primary residence. She said it would be fine but it wasn’t worth taking the risk so I walked. Same thing these folks did except if I had been caught I wouldn’t have the $$ to pay fines.

Turns out if you make a rule but don’t enforce then the folks who can take advantage of your lack of enforcement will break the law.

We’ve had the opposite of populism for a very long time. It’s time to start balancing it out and fighting back against the ultra wealthy and corps that own our country through lobbying and cronyism.

Have you watched any of his campaign events? He talks about making change not about being anti Trump or establishment. The does talk about his stances and what he wants to fight for. Beating Collins is obviously a huge part of his campaign because he’s got to beat her but he’s definitely “for something”.

It’s easy to fall into reporting that paints certain candidates a certain way, it’s worth going out to a campaign event (if you’re local) or watching one to form your own opinion. The Internet is a biased place, some places aren’t outright smearing him but they try to discredit him by saying repeating stuff like you are. Everything I’ve seen and heard from him is that he is more than just an “anti establishment” guy and wants to build a progressive populist movement for the people.

Bad reasons, he’s addressed all of his controversies and the vast majority of Maine Dems accept him. Same reason they refuse to back most progressives, they exist to maintain (or return us to) the status quo. Progressives want to change and as long as establishment Dems hold a majority in the party nothing will change

Does something special happen if we impeach him a third time?

Legacy car makers have become complacent. They wouldn’t survive doing the same thing they have been doing. They will adapt or die, competition is good.

This is the hill they die on? This is the issue they threaten to revolt for? Not properly funding the NHS or something else that benefits people?
