Founder of European Graphic Novels, Aug '23 on Lemm.ee.

"Man rests from one labor by doing another." That also works for managing chronic pain, as I've discovered...

  • Yeah, that's what I've been saying for 2.5yrs now over at my own community. XD

    https://piefed.social/c/eurographicnovels

That said, most of what I write are mini-articles that take time to put together. Sharing a pic (or quote) is generally much easier, as I do across other communities, and the PieFed scheduler is aces for helping with that.

Anyway, I've saved a lot of quotes in graphical format over the years. This weekend, I'll begin scanning through my media collection and begin moving all those to a separate folder, then I'll begin helping out by posting them here. I really do love a good quote, mate. 🙂

  • It was usually concrete, as that's what most outdoor courts are made of in the States. That's kinda the whole point, i.e. not wooden floors.

That's not correct about the NBA-level forces, as occasionally playing indoors instantly produced that range of squeaking sounds. Little kids produced those sounds as well. It's just the dynamic of sneakers upon wood, essentially.

  • I use a browser extension to add dark mode ("Dark Reader" for Firefox). The advantage is that all sites look consistent.

  • As a long-time streetballer I rarely got a sense of that, playing 99% of the time outdoors.

Actually, most of the bball shoes I was familiar with didn't have that fine-line design on the soles. It was more usually geometric shapes and stuff...

  • Number one is definitely morels

    Careful!!

No, I appreciate your comment. That was fun and interesting for me to read. 🙂

  • Fuck... sérieusement ?!

Just put ME in there, instead, as a reminder that we're ALL naked apes, end of the day.

  • Egg wash for presentation, but taste buds for reality, is it not? Haha, I've always liked the idea of dandelion green salad, wine, etc.

Just that... there's a lot dogs in France, and they especially like to poop on dandelions, for some reason.

Il doit y avoir une solution à tout cela !

  • Also, I suspect... good to acknowledge that we're all prey to that mental shortcoming.

Like, sometimes there's the urge to completely banish subjective / cloudy thinking from our logic processes, I suppose, but at the same time... doesn't that also kind of limit our understanding of 'opposites?' I.e., people who function so viscerally in terms of outrage, buttons pushed... and of course, the deep, dark, fundamental fear of the unknown..?

My theory is that it's highly important to understand how other folks think, if that makes sense.

  • On top of the whole 'absurdist halloween' vibe, I love those 'tree-like / stacked goblet' symbols!

  • I see it from PieFed.Social. I'd absolutely love it if we got more FV content here, such as NodeBB. :D

  • Some of the early ones are pretty awkward, but this is gold.

And I mean, specifically-- not "awkward" in that the joke was bad, uncreative or unfunny, but moreso that Larson was clearly still in that formative period, still with some rough edges to work out in his comics mastering.

It's periods like these really, that I consistently find utterly fascinating. Particularly when the creator is pretty dang genius. Not unlike Groening and team behind Simpsons S1, if that makes sense.

  • 1970, just for the rekkid.

  • For a would-be world conqueror, Kang has this weird hangup about avoiding debt of any kind. (it goes back to his childhood / family life, yadda yadda)

The real reason he ran off with the pitcher is because his suit didn't have any pockets, and he's covering up by using standard bravado, there. Later, he'll feel terribly guilty about the whole thing, and make it his mission to find the girl and repay her before conquering the world... but we haven't gotten there, yet.

  • Really? What about it do you miss? (presuming)

  • You think? With those things you mention, you can make a product that pushes the right buttons, hits the right notes, and be done with it, letting it sell itself on its own from that point forward.

Now compare that to relaunching a major social media platform and keeping it alive with investor money until it eventually and hopefully 'makes it.' Seems like a considerably different thing to me.

I'm reminded of the Arsenio Hall Show which ran from '89-94, did well for its time, but whose shelf life kind of naturally expired. They tried to bring it back in 2013, but cancelled it after a single season, because... nostalgia could only prop it up for so long. Or something like that.

  • Keeping in mind that I didn't use Digg much back in the day, I don't really understand the idea of re-launching a service that fell out of use in the first place.

Or if MySpace (etc) was to relaunch with modern features, could it expect to succeed out of nostalgia, or something..?

Ugliest gun in history? It's the British "Welrod" pistol, an ingenious blow for European resistance in 1941.
