It's just my personal server for my own videos, which is nearing 1000 at this point. I'm also still in the process of uploading/transcoding everything so it's a bit wonky still :D

  • As someone whose instance is already on your list, I greatly support this! Everyone should definitely use this list, and that's an unbiased opinion.

  • I'm not sure Honda has developed a system like that yet. It's mostly associated with European vehicles, from what I've seen.

  • What crazy is that, due to the US' outdated laws around headlights, we aren't allowed to have the best headlight technology. Matrix/Adaptive headlights can turn off just the portion of headlights aiming at other vehicles, meaning the driver gets full brights, and doesn't blind other drivers. It's the best of both worlds. It's super cool tech, but not allowed in the US. Some cars sold here even have the hardware, but have it disabled due to regulations, with the headlights just functioning as normal dumb headlights.

  • I fully support having loads of light in a room, four 150w equivalents sounds awesome for cleaning or working on a project, but put that shit on a dimmer, of course making sure they're dimmable LEDs. Also, of course, like 3000-4000K color temp (unless they're in a bathroom or kitchen where 5000K is acceptable imo)

  • People just don't take the time to learn about and understand things, lighting included. Of course, it isn't helped by misleading marketing and such.

  • As a flashlight enthusiast that understands beam patterns and lighting pretty well, it frustrates me to no end how much light we throw into the sky for no reason. Just point stuff at the ground in a floodyish beam pattern. There's no reason to throw light in a 180° pattern, let alone anything more than that.

  • Lutris has always been a bit hit-or-miss for me, I avoided it unless it was the only option, as it only worked half the time. I don't want it to come off like it shouldn't exist, as stuff making Linux easier to use is great, but I don't use it at all in my current workflows.

  • It is kinda nuts that Epic isn't as good as Steam still. More competition is more gooder, but Epic isn't really competing. Of course, I'd also rather the competition not be such a terrible company. I'd love to see more from GOG, I do remember reading that GOG might be coming to Linux natively, which would be awesome.

  • When my partner tried it, it simply didn't support her multiple monitors. Kubuntu just worked. Just an anecdote, of course, and I haven't had time to try it again since.

  • I haven't watched an ad on YouTube in years.

  • Yeah, a third place doesn't have to cost money, but it also isn't a requirement that it's free.

  • Yeah, tbf Linus hasn't had a great, or even ok experience with any Linux distro...

  • Apple, with their M silicon, has been tempting recently, but I really can't bring myself to pull the trigger when I could have a top of the line Framework for the same price as a middle range MacBook pro. Sure, the MacBook is probably more powerful, but the framework would actually be mine.

That said, in the current ram/ssd economies I'm not buying a laptop at all if I can help it. Unfortunately, I want one so I can edit on the go, and uploading TBs of video footage to my home PC and then editing remotely isn't going to work, so I'll probably have to cough up some dough eventually.

  • We're sort of required to have a home to sleep and such, and a workplace to make money, so third place is the term that makes sense. Somewhere you aren't required to be, but you enjoy being.

  • I don't understand that explanation. Your workplace doesn't cost money to exist in, it's quite the opposite. Often a third place is a pub or something, in which you're expected to buy a drink or something.

  • Are you and I watching the same YouTube? People are making really cool stuff, as they always have and always will, and that stuff happens to be in YouTube right now.

  • Sure doesn't seem like it, from my personal experience, as well as Linus of Linus Tech Tips' experiences. Doesn't mean we can't root for the company when they throw their weight behind a good cause.

  • It really is hard to fathom, but I think it has a high likely hood of happening some day. I also think it's why YouTube hasn't been enshittified more than it has been, they know that it's a possibility.
