I might be biased, but my very first (and only) kitty that I got at eight weeks old is still alive. She turns 17 in July. She was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism a year ago. A couple weeks ago she was diagnosed with small cell lymphoma (cancer) in her intestines.

Money is probably the determining factor for life expectancy because figuring out she had cancer in her intestines set me back $3000. 😅 Now that she’s on medication though, she is as lively as ever and is gaining a bunch of weight back which is fantastic 😊

  • Also get them something better than Purina. I’m sure that Purina dry kibble is full of carbohydrates and doesn’t have very much protein if you look at the dry matter basis. If you don’t know what dry matter basis is, you’ve got some homework to do.

    • In 1998, the Salvation Army refused to comply with San Francisco’s laws regarding domestic-partner benefits, costing it $3.5 million in city contracts and leading to the closure of certain programs for homeless people and the elderly.
    • In 2001, the organization tried to strike a deal with the Bush administration, which would have allowed religious charities that receive federal funding to circumvent local ordinances against anti-LGBTQ discrimination. (The organization also threatened to stop all of its New York City operations in 2004.)
    • In 2012, a Salvation Army branch in Vermont was accused of firing a case worker after learning she was bisexual.
    • Also in 2012, Salvation Army spokesperson George Hood said the organization views same-sex relationships as sinful. “A relationship between same-sex individuals is a personal choice that people have the right to make,” Hood said at the time. “But from a church viewpoint, we see that going against the will of God.”

  • My 16-year-old cat just needed an ultrasound a few days ago, and they gave her some sedative that made her go completely limp in my arms within like 30 seconds. I was not even remotely prepared for that, and it felt like she died in my arms. Needless to say, I cried a bunch and I think I also got a taste of some shit I was not ready for that day.
