The one thing that bugs me is having to look up whether periferals work with Linux. Still have odd issues with ones that work like Logitech mmo mouse I have to start Piper every time I log in pretty much to set the DPI. If I ever get around to buying something like a stream deck I'll have to tripple check it will play nice. Not the end of the world, just little annoyances.
The only other things I miss are COD and LoL, honestly though with how toxic the communities are or can be idk that I'm missing anything of value just haven't found anything that scratches the same itch yet.
The other jobs are:
Military, Police, Postal Worker. I wouldn't consider the first two under current circumstances, but I was in the Military, within 4 years my total monetary compensation was in the ballpark of 85k plus retirement, plus free healthcare.
Other options include working up to management in retail or food chains, it's easier to make that kind of money than you are giving credit for.
So the reason it's odd is that usually the Military is the last to leave an area if something is going down. Most military contractors aren't actually fighting, they are handling logistics, IT, translation, and whatever repairs the big companies lobbied the government to make illegal for the military to do. As civilians generally doing the same kinds of work as civilians just in hostile territory they are typically paid quite highly, evacuated first and only return when things are quite stable. The Backwater folks are very much a minority and a completely different kettle of fish.
Lower court judges are strange, some states they are appointed by the governor then voted out by the people if they disapprove, others they are elected, and still others are handled without voter input.
What do you think war is? Civil ones in particular, in the modern era aren't typically fought in pitched battles. It's small outbreaks of violence here and there with communities here and there recognizing authority other than the establishment that seeks to control them. That's modern war. Look at the middle east and northern Africa, plenty of war to go around, and everyone is still just kinda doing their thing during the downtime.
No he is a big proponent of FOSS and quite likes Linux. His Linux Sucks talks were more of a state of the union on big Linux distros and supporting software just going over pain points and what needed improvement. He used to be the public affairs manager for Open Suse if i recall correctly.
But yeah sometime in the last few years he went hard conservative and not in the classical don't change anything way. These days he complains about trans people, insists Rust is a woke cult, and at one point called for his followers to document everyone in FOSS who has ever said anything about supporting anti-facism so he could report them as terrorists. Dude legit lost his marbles and jumped off the deep end hard.
He was famous for the Linux Sucks talks, and used to be pretty chill always signing off his vids with "be excellent to each other" often playing around with old tech, then idk suddenly brain worms.
Budget desktops are and will remain effectively useless for AI not enough RAM, not enough GPU oomph. And cost more to run than they provide unless they are serving a static web page for a small business or something. Shill your bubble somewhere it could actually be utilized.
I use Arch btw
