  • It doesn’t matter how good is internet connection nowadays, the source in the server is still encoded losing some quality.

    Tried to watch Batman Begins in HBO Max, despite being offered as 4K UHD, the loss of information was noticeable on my OLED tv, specially the blacks (as you know, there is almost no black colour in Batman /s).

    A friend of mine lend me his Nolan’s Batman trilogy on BR 4K UHD and it was like night and day.

    Since the lbs I’m buying physical for movies that I like the most and want to watch them in the highest quality possible.

    I’m not from the states and the HOA stories I’ve read are crazy, but all were about aesthetics and how supposedly hurts neighbourhood value.

    Fiber/cable doesn’t go buried hidden from sight? A place that doesn’t have modern internet connectivity doesn’t have its value negatively impacted?

  • Are physical mail generally not under surveillance? If everyone suddently ditched electronic communications and start writing letters, would governments be able to surveil everyone? (Is it practial?)

  • I have a funny anecdote.

    I don’t have autism but depression strongly tied with social interactions and how I’m perceived. Also being bullied a lot didn’t help regarding being paranoid about people laughing at me cause it was true in school and high school.

    Well, while at university I was seeing a psychiatrist cause depression and told her that I also felt like shit because I felt that everyone was making fun of me.

    She quickly jumped and asked “Do you hear voices too?” completely preoccupied.😅

    I had to assure her that no, I did not hear voices.

  • More for folks from walkable environments, my question is: would you walk an hour and 15 minutes to go to say, the library?

  • For me walkable means that you don’t need to own a vehicle from going from point A to B and pedestrians are not an afterthought.

    For my daily commute or to meet my friends it’s faster/comfortable to walk to the metro station or bus stop than picking the car.
