  • That's stuff created by the government however there are also fair use provisions carved out for the government. I've had military guys claim the govt has complete fair use which I doubt.

    I know congress can ignore copyright for debate and argument. So a member of congress pass around copies of material to other members of congress regardless of copyright.

    I'm also pretty sure the government can't legally start streaming all the Disney movies to federal employees without permission. I'm not sure where the line between these twoexamples is however.

  • So depending on why you might be able to train it. If you don't have a lazy eye and have good vision you may want to look into it.

    If your brain is just not fusing two good images there is a good chance you can train it to do so. Having done experiments in this field I can tell you it makes a measurable difference in performance.

    A good read on the subject is below. The part where she first sees a tree in 3D is a good example of what you are missing.

  • Yes. They require stereoscopic vision. When I was doing research on 3D displays about 10% of subjects had to be rejected because they were stereo blind. They had no idea they were that way.

    One woman said that explains why she had the nickname clunk in high school. She had a habit of rearending cars.

  • I've played a lot of rimworld and I think the main problem with it is the developers solution to difficulty after the early game is just more and bigger raids.

    Everybody starts building kill boxes to deal with raids being the only challenge after midgame. Developers response is new types of raids that bypass kill boxes (drop, breacher).

    Give us some different threats or ways to mitigate raids like paying off raiders or building outposts.

  • Martyrs tend to be symbols to a cause. Trump and maga don't have much ideology it's more a cult of personality. Those tend to go away when the central figure dies.

  • Honestly the best are ones that you enjoy. People pickup on the honest enjoyment of the activity and respond well to it.

    That and base line social skills are all that are needed to make friends.

  • Doesn't USB use manchester encoding like ethernet? So you have a consistent clock frequency it's just weather the data edge is before or after the midpoint.

  • Time travel doesn't work unless you also have teleportation. If you travel to the past/future, Earth will be in a different position in its orbit, and you'll die in space.

  • There was a not very good TV show Seven Days that used this well. They had a time machine that could go back in time seven days. The pilot had to fly the machine chasing the earth as he traveled back in time.

    He would usually end up crashing it somewhere and have to find a phone to call for pickup.

  • Bouncing between Algorithms to Live By: The Computer Science of Human Decisions and The Screaming Staircase.

    Algorithms is interesting but the actual algorithms aren't terribly useful so far.

    The Screaming Staircase has a very neat world but not very interesting characters. I'm hoping it improves.

  • Barbarians at the Gate is a good book and the movie is also worth a watch.

    When the two executives are talking and then each gets on their private plane, then continue the talk via phone in air, and then land at the same location it sets up the situation so well.

  • Neutral flavor. So something like canola. Things with a strong flavor can impact the taste of the dish.
