  • I'd argue that linux is fine for every use case, BUT there are obviously some tools that do not work on Linux simply because the devs don't support it. So it's more a matter of having to learn other tools, which can be a huge undertaking I'll give you that. The biggest step you can take towards using Linux is actually using all the open source tools on windows first. If all of your software works on both windows and linux, then changing the underlying operating system isn't that big of a deal anymore. (some exceptions do apply, like some games will never work on linux because of kernel level anti cheat or the devs seem to straight up hate linux users, see Destiny 2 for instance)

  • ...and Audacity for Windows 64-bit is required to run these plugins.

    Useless.

  • Yes. It's illegal actually. A Microsoft team has been dispatched and is en route to your place right now to install Win 11 S on all of your devices.

  • That's the joke.

  • Let's see if Kevin MacLeod has some nice funeral music then.

  • Why bother trying to convince people like you who only complain about Windows, but are way too lazy to do anything about? It's just a waste of my time. I'd much rather gloat about how I don't have to deal with crap like this. Don't come on here and expect sympathy for something that is entirely within your power to change.

  • Ron literally makes fun of Hermione for wanting to free the slaves. But it's all good cause the slaves like being slaves. Imagine writing this into your children's book.

  • The wolves inside of me are now kissing 😳

  • No. Mint is fine for my dad who uses a browser and an email program and nothing else. I'm not gonna recommend it to people who do a lot more with their machines. I can tell them I use Linux and they can ask me anything if they are ever curious about making the switch, but that is it. If they don't make the conscious decision to use Linux, then they won't stick with it anyways.

  • I just can't stand Kate showing me a little orange bar meaning I have not saved the changes yet. The bar must be green! I am a slave to the green bar. The white dot in vscode (I use an open source build) is a bit more tolerable, but whenever I notice it I HAVE to save the file.

  • I would not want to have Nazis working for me either. I don't buy into that whole talk to them, change their mind nonsense. I say we ostracize them as much as possible, have them be pariahs. We either shame them into not being absolute garbage humans or they can fuck right off. Absolutely zero tolerance for Nazis.

  • Bro the more popular user space driver isn't even maintained by AMD at all. I would not be suprised if you tell me you are using amdvlk.

  • Jomo - joy of missing out

  • I use Feeder on Android, it's open source.

  • I kinda like sometimes having to mess about. Beats having another browser annexing all of your data without consent or ads in your start menu. And the most important thing IMHO: it's only ever going to get worse with windows, while Linux steadily improves.

  • I'd be shocked if Edge installed itself and take over Firefox data in my linux install. Impressed, but also very shocked.

  • But NVidia isn’t a barrier for wayland anymore.

I disagree. When I used it recently it was still very much subpar compared to the AMD experience. It's usable, but not to the point that I would like to use it.

  • I so hope the EU won't put up with any of this garbage. Let's fix the law if it got holes, at this point I just want to spite apple.

  • the others aren't doing anything to stop climate change, so we don't have to either

That is how they argue in kindergarten

  • You think Microsoft is at fault for Starfield being mediocre? Okay
