The two Gamer communities I associate with tier lists are fighting games and MOBAs, both of which are less white (I'm pretty sure) than the average gaming community. I haven't really paid much attention to what the kids are doing with tier lists in the past few years, so I don't know if they have had some resurgence with white zoomers outside the gaming community while I've been gone.

Secondly, are tier lists really that white? I think that some of the (S/S+) ranking stuff started in Japan, especially with its history in gaming culture. Even now, IME, the people I see making versions of it are a pretty representative slice of the local Zoomer population, although it might be different where you live.

As an example, this post should note the context around the referenced comment in the body of the text, e.g. "this is about the BAFTAs". When I first read that post I forgot about the controversy the comment was referring to, which confused me for a while as I thought he was making a totally different argument.

I actually disagree on this, I think that the silicon manufacturing capabilities required for AGI have been available since the mid-late 2010s, but the software and knowledge required to actualize it is still decades away. Silicon based processing is incredibly powerful, even with the brute force techniques we currently use. The two advantages that I see for organic computation is the 3D network of logic cells, and the ability to process with analog signals. If silicon chips had money poured into analog processing, combined with their increased power budget, I think that they could easily do what we do using a mid-range chip.
