  • Actually, you have two cycles, like everyone else. A long cycle that is indeed 26-28 hour long, which makes sure you sleep every once in a while that is pure time based. And a short cycle that syncs to light.

    These two cycles interact in complex ways, but the gist of it is that if you fuck with it by staying in a dark room with no lights but screens, it ends up being pretty random, with 26-28 hour long days.

  • I would rather guess colonialism. Germans living 150 km from each other not understanding each other is because their languages were organically evolving from some 1000 year old protolanguage with barely any communication in medieval times.

    The reason the world speaks English is because a relatively small group of speakers from within England colonised the world and kept communications up with those past colonies to this date.

    India or the US didn't have as much time to diverge from old colonial English as Bayern had time to do so from proto-German. Add to it that a sizeable chunk of the colonies are still Commonwealth.

  • I don't know why the article fails to mention that between the enaction of the ban and Pécs Pride, Budapest Pride became the single biggest public event in Hungary since the fifties.

    Hundreds of thousands marched (in a city of 2 million, a country of 9.5 million) defying the ban, and the government was unable to punish anyone.

    This actually makes it harder on the organiser that the article is about, because they are desperate to show strength from a place of weakness.
