Where can I find these submissive puppy boys? It doesn't seem like it should be hard to convince one of them to wear one of those rape prevention reverse condoms, just in case...
No disagreement on the overworked and underpaid bits, but I look at it like this: a parent with a full time job is extremely overburdened. Get the kid up in the morning, get the kid dressed, get the kid fed, deal with the inevitable breakdown from not getting the right cereal or the other kid taking the favorite seat, getting the kid's backpack and homework sorted, and finally get the kid to the bus stop or take said kid directly to school because there was a fight and now the kid isn't allowed on the bus... and they still have to drive to work by 0800 hours. Just because they're late to work and in a rush doesn't excuse the speeding. Teaching is a shitty, hard profession. You don't get appreciated despite almost literally doing nothing but try to improve the next generation. I still think that turning over the task of teaching (which the courses I had to take did; it was entirely book+online portal driven, very little teacher) to the textbook company is a bad track to take.
It's also about making it the equivalent of pushing a button for the professor. Want a test that covers chapters X-y? Push three buttons and the students have a test over those chapters. No effort means they can jerk off in the direction of the grant that was just rejected because they used a bad word according to the government.
Depends on the safe, but the people executing a search warrant, if it's a proper search warrant, will either take the safe with them or stay there until it is opened. The locksmith is also (likely) going to be covered because he was acting at the direction of the police. That means he's going to drill it, and probably won't be looking at the search warrant as confirmation. A proper search warrant means you're fucked unless the cops do something stupid, like looking in your cupboard when the search is for a cow.
It's bogus how heinous the government can be over small crimes.
People on 4chan were talking about that sort of thing at least 15 years ago. I think it was on /tg/, if I remember. They were also much more concerned with the trolling/ethical thought of breeding for the brain. What if you bred someone who only had the thought of serving a master?
I think that's enough evidence for me that selective breeding is horribly fucked in its outcome no matter the original aims, and the closest we should come is eliminating the 'will kill you' diseases.
I think it's overblown for the most part. Yes, the OS should just work... but it does, for 99% of users, on windows, and linux, and probably macos, which I haven't used so can't speak on.
The ones who blow up their systems are either techies who like futzing with stuff, or are using a 'bad' distro for their needs. If you're switching over granny, you set her up with a long term stable kernel, a vanilla distro, and a browser. The few other stories are when people switch from windows and want something specialized to be the same. Those will need a customized solution, but it's not much different than windows when something breaks. Whoever is playing IT gets to poke at a stupid amount of settings, registry edits, or esoteric drivers/dependencies.
How common is the story of “I was new to linux and completely broke it”?
Gee, it's common even for 'experienced' folks. I just went to update to the 6.14 kernel this morning (everything that I use [and monitor for conflicts] was supposedly finally working with it), and apparently that didn't play well with my desktop manager. Cue the tty at boot and trying different DMs until I finally said screw it and went back to the previous kernel.
You know what the real nightmare scenario is there? You're locked in the head, sort of half screaming because you don't have to be doing all that shit anymore... and they start succeeding. They put a little effort in at work, they get promoted. They focus on a single hobby (or two!), and get good enough at it that others ask them to start a club and teach about it, just once a month or so, but the friends they make want to hang out more often. They smile at the person across the bus row, and a conversation starts, and suddenly there's a date planned for friday night. They reach out to your parents, and your parents not only respond well, but admit they were conned by conservatives and want to reconcile.
No troubles... no difficulties. They slide in and simply become the better you that you couldn't.
A year, lol. Most places have you on the street within a month of being hired, and you are placed with something called a field training officer, FTO. Any will laugh you out of the area as a poser if you're trying to infiltrate their social lives to gather intel to use if you use TO. The field training phase lasts for 4 months at most. Cops cycle in and out of the job so fast they would never be able to afford a full year of training.
They also don't use cops who have had tons of complaints. Those get given desk duty. The field trainers are the ones who know how to 'write good,' so they can criticize the reports that the rookies write. The rookies, mind you, are given all the shit cases that the others don't want to work on, allegedly so the rookies can get experience in writing a bunch of different reports.
The bit about other departments not giving you a chance if you're failed from a training phase is mostly true, but remember that the whole 'desperate for new cops' thing means the small places will hire you if you can breathe without wheezing, and sometimes even if you get out of breath walking to the donut store counter.
Remember kids, knowing is half the battle! don't use this info in casual conversation to shmooze a cop you meet at the bar or a party to pick up details on their agency >.> <.<
I don’t think it’s all that unlikely that parts of the military arrest Trump and his administration... Trump is deeply unpopular among the military top brass, and they tend to still value the constitution
They also value their paychecks, and have to consider a lot more than just whether or not they dislike him. The first magat that is given an order against trump is likely to shoot them, and will be able to claim he was just following the principle of not following unlawful orders, AND that he was following the law by trying to then place them under arrest, they resisted, and had to be shot in the scuffle.
Military schisms are tough bitches to handle. I'd say that it is extremely unlikely, as in won't happen unless trump decides to go to war with canada and europe and china and russia and india at the same time, that the military does anything.
I almost wish 1984 was the reality, but it's a horrible mix of 1984 and Brave New World. Rather than just being oppressed due to fear of your comrades turning you in, like 1984, we also get people happily ignoring everything bad to get their fix of the fixed slice of the world presented to them.
If it was just 1984, at least I'd have hope that enough people could see the problem, rise up against the problem, and not have to contend with the contented masses that just want the status quo.
Because one (obviously not all) of the problems that HOAs were created to solve is still around: terrible neighbors. It's not always an option to pick the best neighbors when you're looking at a home, and HOAs at least let you quickly see that your neighbor isn't going to be dumping sewage or old rusted machines in your yard. They also can be a quicker, more accessible route than going through with an individual lawsuit if your neighbor does begin acting like an ass. I've had to deal with bad neighbors in rural and suburban settings, and I would honestly pick HOA over that.
I wouldn't live in an HOA neighborhood if I could avoid it, but I also wouldn't want to live in a neighborhood if I could avoid it. Give me a large, spacious, well-insulated apartment in an urban area and I'd be happy.
I've sometimes included it in my usernames just to catch the fuckers who will cozy up thinking I'm one of them. I love flipping that script in pvp games.
