He was just a Fledditor. Living in a Lemmy woooorld.

  • True. I disliked all his talking points but he hasn't been a part of my zeitgeist.

  • Yeah, those actions had a significantly larger impact, but don't forget the contribution to stalling escalation some groups like the Black Panthers achieved. Nonviolence often beats out violence, but it won't deter everyone.🩷

America is dark at a nonfunctional level. Community is the remnants of the light.

  • ???

Why would that be better? I'm interested to hear how you think that would be more effective and within her "power".

  • Contextually, almost no one on this site assumes sarcasm first.

  • Ahh dang! So close. I guessed 16th century.

  • I guess it's enough boats to make a floating villa? There's something in there that I'm sure a 16th century language historian could figure out.

  • Oh boy! I'm prepared before reading the comments this time around!

  • Ok. That makes more sense. Thank you for expounding.

Yeah, I absolutely agree with the portrayal of anything political to be overblown. I visited Portland for the first time a few months ago to see an old friends and expierience what the city was like with my own eyes.

Ofc, there hasn't been any tanks or marching en mass in DC, but they so have weapons and I did see a Humvee or two in my search. Idk who thinks of it as a North Korea style regime.

Trump is not all powerful, but seems to dodge every consequence to his actions and has encouaged setting up concentrations camps while also deporting actual citizens. I don't know whether I consider him more Fascist or just the dictator for the Money Oligarchy, but you are correct that resistance does work against the policies/plans where in full fascism it wouldn't. It's a shame that definitions are so free-form now by intent and sabotage.

And as to random protest images, here is one of my very favorites in solidarity.

  • Ok. Sure. If current veterans get easier access to healthcare and so does everyone else I'm all for it. The VA is half-broken right now anyway. I just don't want people reliant on help to suffer, even if I disagree with them.

  • They are not for civilian hunters

Ohhh, sorry OP. I think M4s are specifically designed for civilian hunters. They seem very useful when hunting them.

(Jokes are my coping mechanism 💜)

  • Three questions: What? Why? Aren't you in the UK instance?

  • Bruh. You're mad. Like, really mad. Makes me think you aren't thinking clearly. Even if it's "just a photo op" there are livestreams and plenty of photos of National Guard troops in DC. I found some from 2 days ago, and 2 weeks ago with a quick search.

Yes, this is also a distraction like most everything else has been. No, the sensationalist news media is not fully trustworthy. Yes, there are armed National Guard troops in Washington DC. No, having some people say they haven't seen guards does not disprove their existence.

My question to you is, what makes you deny their existance so hard? Do you honestly believe publicity stunts don't have an impact even as just stunts?

  • Yeah, crazy he was able to get access to cocaine and mdma though. How could a Election Official with close ties to a political party ever access something so illicit? "They"™️ must have used Jewish brainwashing lasers to make him do it.

  • That's fair. Nihlism and accelerationists are very irritating in a scientific setting. But I would also say Lemmy is not likely to only have logic and reasoning behind most comments.

  • The frog in the water pot and the bystander effect are closely linked, methinks.

  • The correct answer isn't left for us to easily choose, but Casey's pizza is one of those cboices. I'd reccomend trying the breakfast pizza with gravy sauce if you have an opportunity sometime.

Keep fighting your fight, and I'll keep pushing on mine. I'm getting close to helping some coworkers see how the economy they voted for is getting worse. I wish I could make basic human rights be more important to them, but The Machine is built to counter that specifically. I'll take what I can get.

  • That's a fine conclusion, I don't expect us to agree after all. I think I better understand where you are at after all this conversation. Thank you for having it with me. You are going for abstaining. My big focus has been reduction. I do need to travel or my mental state just gets bad. It doesn't help that I'm stuck living in this state via a multi-year contract.

And as for boycotting, only a few places completely; Chick-fil-A, Hobby Lobby, and many other places. The rest is significant reduction. WalMart, Amazon, McDonalds, etc I will use rarely (maybe twice a year) and have been funneling a lot more of my finances to the local grocery Co-Op that primarily stocks local farm goods, Etsy, and locally owned restaurants. Similar to not adopting veganism, but eating a lot less beef, adding in vegetarian meals, and mostly going with fish for protein.

I support as much local as I can afford to, and that is more than I can ask for from others. Intentions matter more to me than the rest, because it can be worked with. Hope you have a great day!

  • True. I suppose it's more of me placing the blame on large landlord corporations that own 20+ spaces to rent out rather than the AirBnB host with two houses. My local community is much more affected by the former than the latter. Is it the other way around in touristy towns outside the USA? I haven't used any AirBnB abroad.
