  • My guess: they'll go the lawsuit route.

  • Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not (the sausage thing seems to imply you are), but all public schools (elementary, middle, and high school) are closed on election day so that they can act as polling locations. Many libraries also act as polling locations on election day.

  • If you won't be able to vote on that day for some reason, there are small polling places open for a couple of weeks ahead of that date.

For the record, early voting is an option in many US states, too, and it's really expanded since COVID. In my state, you could go to any poll location to cast an early vote. It used to be you could only cast an early vote if you were going to be away from home in election day for a specific reason (college or military are the ones I remember, but there were other reasons, too), but it's expanded so pretty much anyone can do early voting now. On election day, you have to go to your assigned poll location in order to vote if you don't do early voting.

This varies by state, though. In any case, it's getting easier to vote, and there are more options to be able to vote, but it's not nationwide (yet, hopefully).

  • In the US, most TV commercials are so obviously TV commercials that they don't label them. Some TV stations do have bumpers they air when the TV show goes to break and comes back from break.

  • They're in the middle of trying to get their users to create accounts with E-Trade, their Directed Share Program (DSP) administrator. They'll start selling shares to their users as part of their DSP late next week. After that is the IPO.

  • Fortunately, at least in my experience, the adblockers usually win. Even if a company changes something to avoid an adblocker or force someone to turn off their adblocker (Hi, Twitch!), it's usually fixed within just a few hours at most.

  • Weren't they also caught using AI bots to drive up engagement in some subreddits, too? (I think it was supposed to be some of their subreddits in foreign languages or something.)

  • What I'm talking about was when they changed the Android app to behave more like the iOS app. It was a buggy mess when it first launched. It's much better now, though. I've since updated my app to the current version.

  • It's... really not that hard.

    1. Uninstall the new app, download the old app from https://www.apkmirror.com/ (which is basically an archive of most apps downloadable from Google Play).
    2. Use an app like APK signer to change the app's "signature" so it doesn't automatically update.
    3. Install it.

It takes like 10 minutes at most.

I did exactly this with the Discord app last year when they suddenly changed the app's entire layout.

  • The only reason Switch emulation is as far along as it is is because they made a mistake with the hardware in the Switch's 2017 model. As long as they don't make a mistake like that again, they'll probably be fine.

  • Antov Yelkin who played Checkov

You mean Anton Yelchin who played Chekov?

  • Oh, my bad. It was zed instead of the letter "zee".

It's 3am, and I'm exhausted, about to head to bed.

  • Whenever I hear someone say "zed", it always throws me for a loop. I follow a Canadian streamer, and they use it in place of "zero" the letter "zee".

  • MacD’s

    I think you mean ModL's.

  • More accurately, it's based on total karma OR total mod actions.

  • Yeah, they sent it to me, too. For users, it's based on total karma. For mods, it's based on total mod actions taken.

  • Considering they're DMing certain Reddit users (their most active users, according to the DM) about being given a chance buy Reddit stock during the IPO (that's not strictly PR speak; they're actually setting aside some stock for their users), that's entirely possible.

  • This. I'm lucky if I get an email saying I didn't get the job.

Another thing I hate: those "personality tests". Given the option, most of my answers to those questions would be "it depends on the situation". (After all, there are several different variables to consider, variables that the scenarios those "tests" they give us don't cover, that I would actually need to consider if I were in the situation described in the scenario.) But that's not an option, so I'm forced to pick something that I don't really believe is right.
