  • OK. We start at the beginning. 10000 years before our current date, a boy is born in Anatolia that will one day become known as The Emperor... Wait perhaps we should start 30 million years ago since you also should know about the war in heaven, the fall of the C'tan and the fate on a race known as the Necrotyr.

  • I would love for my 40k groups five year group chat to be leaked. My theories about Alpharius is valid I tell you.

Nononono, dont go! We haven't even gotten to the part with Valdor, and the Emperor yet.

  • Some people want to 3d print for a hobby, while some want 3d printers as a hobby. You are the second type, while out of the box printers are for the first type.

Personally what kept me away from 3d printing my own terrain for miniature wargames is that I don't have time for another hobby. I just can't be bothered with endless fiddling with settings, temperatures, speed, and all that. But I understand your feelings

  • I sort of made the comment in jest, but if the Danish school children are told of amicable cooperation and a split we learn different things.

Norway, Denmark and Sweden got the same monarch in 1397 under Queen Margaret (Kalmar union) Sweden elected Gustav Vasa in 1523 and left, but Norway including its overseas territories (then including Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and the Northern Isles of Orkney and Shetland) was in the beginning a seperate kingdom but sort of was annexed as a Danish province over time. Orkney and Shetland was pawned of as dowry and some parts of mainland Norway was ceded to Sweden after the numerous wars with Sweden whenever Denmark-Norway was the loosing side.

Norway was not an equal part and did not leave peacefully. It was given to Sweden after Denmark was on the loosing side in the Napoleonic wars in 1814 and became a joint Kingdom under King Karl-Johan.

Norway didn't gain full independence until 1905 (when we also elected a Danish prince as king, but I think that was mainly because he was married to a English princess. Wikipedia still calls her Maude princess of Wales and not Maude of Norway so don't know how much of a queen she was. King Haakon was amazing during the Nazi invasion tho')

When Norway was lost to the Danish king he still kept all the overseas territories. Norway tries to reclaim Greenland in 1933 but lost in an international court.

TBF, I think no one in Norway cares about the history now, or care much about the 400 year Danish rule. I think Norway would have lost all those territories on their own a anyway. In 1814 we made constitution after being lost to Sweden and tries to stay with Denmark by electing the Danish crown Prince as king. The Swedish king would have none of that ofc. The thing is that building a new nation between 1814 and 1905 nationalistic sentiments focused on the pre Dane period and dubbed the period the 400 year night. And Norway was treated as a colony, that's why there is so few institutions and budings from that era. Fredrik the 6 made a lot of slander to cover his pride after loosing Norway as well.

Edit: What I am mad about is how danish museums, universities and other similar institutions have kept items that are culturally important to Norway.

  • Norwegian pondering the Danish theft of Faroe Islands, Iceland and Greenland.....

But I do agree with the statement.

  • Are you a male adult performer?

  • As a Norwegian I am reminded of our "reply" to the American first slogan.

We are OK with Norway fourth or even fifth, but Sweden LAST!

  • Aye. Also Norwegia. The sale of the new Y is the benchmark. And still the Y is number four in numbers of cars sold.

  • Don't get anything made of GoreTex as that is produced by American comoany W. L. Gore & Associates. Fjellräven has decent cotton products that lasts. Personally I prefer Norwegian brand Bergans. You also have Härkila (finish) and Klättermusen (Swedish) last one primally focuses on light weight climbing gear

  • Also Norway is not part of the EU or the customs union. Together with pretty harsh tariffs on agricultural products in direct competition with Norwegian agriculture. Lidl couldn't import and dump prices on staple products in meat and dairy. They also had stores that was so different from what we were used to it alienated lots of customers. Not a big loss tbh, it's a shite chain anyway.

That being said there are issues with this sector in Norway with three operators with more and more vertical integration. No real competition

  • Not to trow sand in the gears, but let's wait until the numbers after the launch of the new model Y comes in. Some buyers might waiting for that one.

  • Fazer blue is a good chocolate. Can't get it in Norway where it's mainly Freia (owned by Mondelez) or Nidar (Orkla, so actually Norwegian) I avoid Mondeleze crap, even if Freia is considered culturally as the flag carrier Norwegian brand

  • NEVER! Not until the historic Injustice suffered by the poor Norwegians these last 400 years is put right. /s

  • Not really kept up on developments, but you can probably have a detonator that degrades. In rock blasting electronic detonaors are more and more prevalent. But might defy the purpose of being dirt cheap.

  • Because of political machinations of Queen Margrete Norway and Denmark got the same king in 1380 resulting in a union and later sort of annexation of Norway into Denmark.

Now follow a series of wars with Sweden the next 400 years.

Im the peace of Brömsebro in 1645, Herjedalen is ceded to Sweden.

In the peace of Roskilde in 1658 The King had to ceede Bohuslen, Jemtlandand and Trondheim len to Sweden. (Trondheim was later ceded back)

In 1814 after the Napoleonic war Denmark-Norway was on the losing side and the Danish king had to ceede Norway to Sweden, while Faroe, Iceland and Greenland who was part of the nominally seperate Kingdom of Norway was not.

Norway became independent in 1905 and tried to get Greenland back in 1930 with no success. Mind you none of the people living in these areas now are remotely considering themselves Norwegian. In 1905 Norway had rearmed and fortified the border in preparation for war that never came. In the end we elected a Danish prince as King.

The Danish "tyrrany" lost Norway lots of land and I have had people in Balkan countries look horrified and shocked that we dont do anything to reclaim what is rightfully Norwegian.

It says something about the mindset as we now call Sweden "Broderfolket" (Brother people). No one cares about the "lost" land and we sort of took Bohuslen back by buying up tons of summer homes there

  • As a former mine clearer the world does not need more mines. But as a former combat engineer mines done correctly (with proper mapping, fencing and marking) is way to control an axis. That's why it still has its uses. Problem is 10 years down the line when the maps are lost, fencing gone and no markings.

  • Like I believe one of your founding fathers Benjamin Franklin said: "Experience holds a dear school, but fools learn from no other"

  • Known I am a bit obtuse, or perhaps litteral, but I am Norwegian and have more words for snow. Think English have more words for snow. Think texture. Powder, sleet, sugary, slush, crusty, hoar, rime.

  • First of all it's a private company that supplies many of the ports. It's not an official stance.

Second. It's a private company that can choose its customers because capitalism.

Third. The minister of defence has publicly stated that Norways obligations will be met.

Fourth. I have no idea how often the US Navy has to bunker in Norwegian ports, but. I suspect it's not that often. The subs dont need fuel and I think they are the most frequent visitors.

Fifth. You can suck Trumps dick and fondling his balls while paying him money to do so and he would still "forget" if remembering is in any way an inconvenient for him.

Sixt. Fuck Trump, Fuck the US, and fuck the US Navy
