  • If Trump is working with Putin, then what's the angle behind seizing a ship painted with the Russian flag?

  • Tariffs again, probably. Trump's favorite tool.

  • Let's see:

    • The front is moving rather quickly (for the usual standards) north of Kam'yans'ke in the Zaporizhia region. The Russians are rapidly advancing north and east along the first line of defense. The goal is to encircle Orikhiv, which lies in the center of the first line of defense.
    • In the East of the Zaporizhia, the Russians are continuing to advance along the second line of defense as well, after the capture of the crossroad city of Hulyaipole.
    • Movements around Pokrovsk have slowed down quite a bit, although there are still small advances here and there. It's likely that the Russians are consolidating their gains and setting up in the city for now.
    • There have been numerous advances around Kostyantynivka, and the Russians are preparing to (finally) operationally encircle the city. A small grouping of Ukranian soldiers recently got encircles here around the reservoir.
    • The Siversk direction is moving rather quickly as well, ever since Siversk itself fell during December. The advance is centered towards Kalenyky here.
    • The Russians are also advancing rapidly on the flanks of Lyman and are in the process of operationally encircling this city as well.
    • The Ukrainian counterattacks in the Kupyansk direction have stalled and the Russians have regained the initiative. The situation here is very unclear and war mappers tend to not agree with each other which areas are actually held by Ukraine, and which are held by Russia. The latest news is that Russia appears to be pushing in the direction of Rad'kivka again, towards Moskovka, and individual groups of soldier are infiltrating deep behind Ukrainian lines all around the city. It's looking likely that the Russians will win this one too.
    • The Russians have also commenced two new incursions into the Sumy region, likely intended to further thin out the Ukrainian front by drawing troops away from other frontlines, and there were some minor advances all along the border.

I disagree with RobnHood, the ground war has not slowed at all. It's arguably more heated up than it has ever been at this time of year.

By the way, I get my updates from this Youtube channel, which posts daily updates on the advances and aggregates updates from multiple other war mappers. It also visualizes what I described above: https://www.youtube.com/@WeebUnionWU

It's no-bullshit, little to no brainworms. The primary focus is the advances on the front, so you won't hear any "African suicide bomber" fake news stories like you would on Ukrainian war mapper channels.

  • The Netherlands sends one (1) soldier. Finland sends 2.

I'm sure the US is quaking in its boots at this unprecedented display of power.

  • The mismatch between the anti-ICE rhetoric and the actions of Democratic appropriators reflects a Catch-22 of congressional power: The only way lawmakers can put guardrails on the controversial agency and curb President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement agenda at this moment is to hand it billions of taxpayer dollars.

Who actually buys this crap, honestly.

  • Going the violent route would also allow them to remove potential indigenous opposition to large scale mining operations.

From what I read on Politico, this is largely a reason why the EU hasn't invested more into mining Greenland's rare earth minerals. I doubt the US would respect the local population in the same manner.

  • Some Israeli insider who got the previous Iran strikes right on Polymarket was betting on it occurring by the 31st January this time around.

Don't write it off just yet.

  • One thing I still commonly see among lib circles is them writing letters addressed to their representatives about issues such as ICE or Greenland, and calling on other people to do it.

To me, it just looks like another one of those useless rituals for true believers in the system. I cannot fathom what they think this will accomplish; their "representatives" (lmao) aren't obligated to respect their opinion so the letter might as well just wander into the trash.

  • The population of Greenland is only about 50k. The US has murdered an order of magnitude more people in the Iraq war alone. I believe they could easily commit a genocide there to take it, if they are depraved enough.

  • Lmao

  • Putin is great man. Great men are very big. They control armies like toys with their big hands.

  • I think the real trigger for this is criticism of Israel. They lost control of the narrative and it spooked them like nothing else.

The groups most critical of Israel tend to be younger people after all.

  • US-backed coups in Europe when.

  • Western journalists possess omniscient ways of knowing that stump the feeble minds of mere mortals.

  • Note that this was a Dutch article where the mercenary also described that the Azov office was full of Nazi symbols, so I don't think said article was intended as propaganda. I think it was posted in the previous Hexbear news mega.

  • God I relate to that first section a lot. There's no place to escape the same tired discussions, no place where these stupid endless problems are solved. There is no escape from this hell.

  • Yeah that's the Imperial Boomerang in a nutshell.

  • Frankly, they don't even believe that Russia and China want it or are in any spot to take it.

The need for rare earth materials is reason enough to take control.
