As much as we should hate Tesla, in 2019, they increased the Model 3’s power FOR FREE. I was at 5.2 seconds 0-60, and that was a free update to 4.9s 0-60. I didn’t even have the AWD or performance model. They figured out how to make the motors better and just gave it to everyone. Why isn’t VW doing the same? Fucking greed.
I can walk to 10 breweries in 15 mins from my house in Seattle. I love the taste of pretty much any alcohol. It’s a unique taste that’s an art in either beer or cocktails or liquor. I used to drink almost every day because of this. I’ve since stopped drinking most weekdays unless it’s a special occasion, like a beer release, friends over, etc. and I think it’s helping me. I’m not addicted, but it was a little bit different to quit because it was a way I’ve dealt with every day’s stress. My first drink was when I was 19 in Italy (am American) and enjoyed a few cocktails on my trip (not wine or beer at first).
I’ve only smoked cigarettes a handful of times with friends in very special occasions. I did cigars a couple times a year. I used to do taobacco pipe once or twice a month for a few years because I liked the taste with a scotch whiskey, but never enough to get a nicotine buzz. I only smoke weed nowadays, probably twice a month, but mostly vape pens.
My parents didn’t drink often growing up, but they smoked well before I was born. I’m a millennial so going to college it was kind of expected, and I grew to like it.
I don’t like how two of the protests they’ve scheduled have been on holiday weekends when people are traveling or have big plans and cannot safely participate (Easter weekend and now Labor Day weekend). The No Kings protest was huge partly because it wasn’t on a holiday weekend. It seems very counter intuitive to have them on holiday weekends.
I describe the age from Gravity Falls (maybe even started with Avatar) to the end of The Owl House as the platinum age of cartoons. So many stories and so many engaging fandoms. It’s not dead right now but it feels like we’re in a bit of a drought.
My favorite kids show right now is Bluey. My wife and I don’t have kids and don’t want kids (at least for a while more) but we love watching Bluey. I’ve teared up too many times because it’s so relatable as an adult and it’s not just made for the kids. There’s jokes and references that only adults can get, but not crude.
Seattle summer is what people want from fall, and I say that coming from the South! Today is a 77/56. Perfect weather bc of all the shade and light breeze.
I’m a salaried software developer. My first job was 8-5 with a lunch break that we had to take. I asked if I could take it at the start or the end of the day and was told, “No.” So my coworkers and I started playing board games 3-4 times a week during our lunch break in one of the offices. Mainly legacy games like Gloomhaven and Pandemic Legacy. The VP loved showing off the board game room to the interviewees to show that we like to have fun there.
I do miss that job sometimes because it was just raw programming. I was programming or writing SQL queries for over 30 hours a week. No AppSec, no lengthy review process, no bullshit (except the pay, which was ok for Mississippi).
Was about to suggest the same! I feel in love with it 4 years ago and subscribed after beating the base game. Turns out that I had a JP service account, so I had to do the whole base story again on a new NA account (since they don’t allow cross region payments).
I’m going in for a yearly check up next week to try to get depression meds. I’ve never thought I had depression before (besides seasonal), but I’m not motivated to do a lot of things like cleaning or exercising. I’ve already been on ADHD meds for years, and that did the trick until maybe this last year or two. I’m super positive and optimistic, but I just want to feel like a little more drive in my work and home life. I feel stuck and lazy most of the time. Fingers crossed that I can get on some kinda anti depressants, because I saw the change my wife had when she started them.
I definitely have said “gettin jiggy” at least once in the last two years. Maybe ironically, but it is part of my vernacular.
