Doesn’t overdosing cause blood clots? I feel like that would complicate the assessment since enough to cause blood clots might not be instantly lethal, but a stroke, or heart attack because of it absolutely can be lethal.

You are spot on that these words are mainly offensive when used against people pejoratively, in that context they absolutely are slurs.

I’m not saying it is on the same level, just that it’s a slur, it is used to objectify and dehumanize trans people, usually trans women, by reducing them to their genitals and a sexualized stereotype. So while it isn’t the same level as tr*nny or f*ggot or groomer, it’s still very bad in a different way.
