Having been a dumb kid growing up in bumrucksville, I'll add this too: Congnitive load.
You have to learn to cope with something new. Driving sucks, other drivers suck, you're telling me I have to drive in a two lane which could become one lane at any moment? I have to watch for faster pedestrians? "Isn't the sidewalk for bikes, why do they need the road??", then not realizing sidewalks aren't properly flat enoigh and mixing bikes with walkers on a 3ft wide space is as stupid as the rest of stroad design to mix pedestrians and cars.
Nah, sounds like too much work, bikers can drive like the rest of us, "keeps everyone safer" or whatever you wanna tell yourself without thinking further. Too much work to re-evaluate.
People tend to migrate during such events, that's what a refugee is. Restructurings like this often kill more people than they attract, but they do still attract them. And more still get fucked by bad luck. See: literally any country creating event, good or bad.
As someone who was in the MN guard, I think the guard itself will use itself against the protesters. The best of them will feel cornered. The worst will feel given an opportunity for backstabbing.
Ah yes blame the people not the system. Aside from what you said being incredibly foolish, near none of these people signed up in the last 6 months. The heart of the lower enlisted rn are people who signed up for college benefits during the Biden administration, or are sergents trying to quietly finish out their careers to get the retirement benefits that're the only thing worth committing more than 6 years of your life to the service for. You quit before that 20 year mark, you get shit, and if you think a career in the national guard pays well, well I have a ASVAB test ready for ya, you're just the type lmao
Yes, but they sure don't have qualified recruits anymore.
You don't pass your PT tests, no benefits, but you don't get to go "oops I quit" either. So you wind up with situations like this - even unfit soldiers can't be replaced these days
As someone who grew up in a nearby school district, absolutely checks out lmao
