  • Since when is it illegal to sell tritium in the US? Gun companies selling tritium glow in the dark sights all the time.

  • America and Americans broadly do not respect "international law" as an idea. We don't vote for representatives in a UN House of Reps or UN Senate. And if we did why would we wish to be beholden to a majority rules vote when that majority combined might be inferior militarily.

America tolerates international law when it doesn't interfere with our course.

The idea of a "one world government" is treated as a fringe tin hat conspiracy theory nonsense that no one is advocating for.

  • Every year about 8,000 people file their cases for cert at the Supreme Court. Each year they grant cert on about 80. Roughly 1/1000 odds. Those about 8,000 cases include cases that have also previously filed in past years without cert.

Amicus briefs are not uncommon. They often don't grant cert when there are no novel legal questions. The Supreme Court simply doesn't not have the ability to hear every appeal. Them not granting cert in any case should not be taken as a dispositive.

  • In 21/50 you need a license.

  • Of the videos that have popped up in my algorithm I haven't seen any Canada hate. If anything maybe some Mexico hate, he had a video essentially asking for a NAFTA 3.0 where we kick Mexico out of the deal so they don't drag down US-CA relations w/ border politics. But half of his videos seem to be more on culture things like food or flags. Are there any particular anti-canada vids you have in mind?

Can't comment on the fake accent though never met him. Could be an act.

  • Makes a sense in a pre-industrial pre-citizenship world. The broad idea is that you establish that the people voting on things are members of the community to be impacted. That way you don't have transient people impacting the outcomes of elections.

  • The real question is why the hell is a governor engaging in international trade or diplomacy? Art. 1 Sec 8.

  • This was my understanding as well

  • College students can be eligible for SNAP & HUD.

  • Well said. A sober look at the lives of these people often reveals a sad truth.

  • 9/10 sovereign citizens are victims. 1/10 are charlatans selling a fiction to those in dire need of a way out of legal trouble.

  • Yeah that doesn't solve the issue of planting a bomb, though.

"Your honor my client was only engaged in economic terrorism" is not a good excuse.

  • Cool story, the jury will still consider it murder.

  • That still would be barred by Bostock v. Clayton County, 590 U.S. 644 (2020). If they do any on that basis they'd instantly get sued. 7/9 of the justices are the same since then. 4 members of the majority remain on the court and the two new appointments both should be predicted to uphold the precedent.

  • This one has been involved in multiple incidents seemingly involving her. They also apparently have a security guard so non zero chance someone was working graveyard shift.

  • Yeah, her legal counsel is doing so on her behalf. It isn't like she is actually drafting the complaint herself.

That is presuming the idea of holding one's own government accountable via the government's mechanisms isn't the shocking thing for you. The people of Connecticut have a constitutional right to a free public education. When that right is violated they have standing to file a civil lawsuit to be heard by a judge and jury.

  • I don't doubt she will. CT's Constitution's Article 18 provides for a free public education. She seems to have been denied that here.

  • Paragraph 1: 1) Use proper nouns more. 2) have you been to Hartford? 3) Teachers wouldn't need to teach for a test that was so simple as to not graduate an illiterate high school senior. But I agree the standard NCLB imposed was very detrimental.

Paragraph 2: "people like you insist that local taxes should pay most of it." Go back re read what I've written. I support a ban on any funding education from municipalities. It should be ideally all done on a state level to balance accountability with equality of outcome.

My stance is that in practice municipal property tax pays for most education. Not that that is a good thing.

Hartford's funding is mostly subsidized by the state with the municipality paying little. That is an issue as they receive (under the current system) what is needed from the state but not what is needed from the municipality. Because Hartford is broke. This is the fault in an education system where each town pays for a part of the educational spend with municipal property taxes.

The idea that anyone would pay taxes to support a k-12 education that doesn't even produce literacy is not manufactured outrage. It demeans the name of the state. CT doesn't come up much and it is an embarrassment when it does because of such a failure.

Paragraph 3: Yeah I agree. The issue is that you can't spend more on public schools when you don't have more money to do so. Which creates a circular issue.
