  • Here in north america many of our school buses are diesel and they spit so much black smoke the back of the bus is often tinted with soot. Try not to get any respiratory conditions on your way to school kids!

  • If it was just as fast to walk, then he should have walked. But by taking a vehicle into the street while intoxicated he enters DUI territory.

As for your wheelchair comment i think the context matters. I doubt they would charge someone who needs the wheelchair with a DUI in the scenario but someone just taking a motorized wheelchair for a drunken joyride down the road will likely end up with a DUI.

  • Homeless aren't tied to their province of origin. Many may have went to Vancouver for its milder climate or other reasons.

  • Trump may be more public and arrogant about it, but its not like that kind of company is new to rubbing elbows with US presidents or administrations.

  • Given he was operating it on the road, he would be a hazard to himself and a distraction/hazard to other drivers.

I'd say it doesn't lessen the seriousness of a DUI. They take the DUI so seriously they'll even get you in the pink barbie jeep.

  • It is probably his plan to have this make homelessness worse, that way the public sees the problem getting worse and loosens their standards for the solution. This is going to normalize encampment tear downs and other hostile "solutions" to homelessness.

  • Single issue voters have never made any sense to me. I've never seen a political party platform that i agree with 100%. I try to weigh out all the party platforms, how they address different classes, issues, and geopolitics. I try to pick a platform that I think has the most potential to address some major issues with the least amount of things I'd want to protest against.

I will vote for a party that is proposing something I'm strongly against if I think many of their other proposals are great. You can still hit the streets and protest the stuff you disagree with even if you voted for the party proposing it.

  • Would you like a roll of 40 grit or 60 grit?

  • There is a massive demand for medium density housing near transit/walkability in most of North America yet a very small supply of that type of housing. There is also a severe lack of transit which goes hand in hand with low density for the vast majority of residential and even commercial areas.

  • Maybe, but japan has a much different culture towards work and commitment than western countries. Burn out culture is very normal for the populace.

Personally i somewhat believe the 2 hrs a night thing but i suspect there are naps throughout the day if thats the case. Id guess she gets 4-6 hrs broken up throughout the day.

  • Yet she was somehow feminine enough when Charlie was alive

  • Bet they never have to "lay nice and quiet to get what they want" such as basic needs like food.

  • Especially considering that if those transit trips replace car trips, even having the fare be free is a net financial positive in the reduction of road maintenance, traffic enforcement, lane widening, and emergency services costs.

  • Being blindfolded while being assaulted doesn't mean it didn't happen.

  • Shouldn't it be his head dangling down?

  • I can vouch that a shower beer often brings my energy back post shower.

  • I agree with the pairing. Some people get violent, erratic or otherwise disruptive while battling their illnesses. It wouldn't be fair or ideal to have support workers be victimized by assault or other crimes. It also isn't the right reaponse to just show up and shoot someone having an issue. Pairing them means force is available if needed, but theres also a more social form of help available if they are willing and able to cooperate.

For example some people with mental illnesses feel unsafe and try to arm themselves with a knife or something to protect themselves (from what varies from case to case). It would be unreasonable for a support worker to approach while they are armed. Having the police to help talk with them into putting the knife down and relocating to an area away from the knife or other hazards could provide a better opportunity for a support worker to approach. If it ends up escalating, the police are there to intervene before the support worker gets hurt, hopefully in a nonlethal manner.

  • I agree the punishment should be harsher than that for carrying a prohibited weapon, but i do think the 10 year prohibitation from firearms is adequate, assuming this is his last run in with the law aside from maybe a simple traffic ticket.

  • The prohibition for 10 years means he now cannot legally get a PAL and legally buy firearms. I get it, it seems pointless, but its about preventing legal firearms from reaching people unfit to use them responsibly. The illegal side still needs to be addressed by confronting the illegal gun trade.
