  • Thats exactly why so many people think EVs are the only solution. They have never actually experienced fast, efficient, convenient, and clean public transit. The vast majority of the US thinks public transit equals an hourly bus thats never on time and reeks of piss, and thats a fair view because for many thats all they have ever been offered.

  • I've never heard of a case in traffic court where your outcome is worse than the original ticket, except in cases where an officer has reduced 30 over the limit to 20 over the limit, in which case there is a chance you will be charged with 30 over if you lose the case.

  • I love how vague this is. Extremism on gender is entirely up to the reader to decide the definition. To some people 2 genders is extremist and hateful, to others anything except 2 genders is extremist and also somehow hateful.

    My municipality already has this fund. They are funding projects like that using the revenue from the speed cameras. We all know ford will back off with these improvements once the cameras are removed.

  • The icing on the cake is it was his government that allowed the cameras in the first place. But now suburban voters are upset that they are expected to follow the rules of the road so now he calls the cameras a tax grab to keep his voter base, using typical populist politician techniques like lying about their performance and effectiveness.

  • Some people aren't great at white collar positions. I work trades and my boss's grandson is a teen who is very smart and works hard on some jobs, but he struggles in school. White collar positons for people with high energy or long term focus issues can be difficult for them. We aren't able to let the robots do everything yet so we still need people to work trades. Schools should be providing quality pathways to both.

    I think the bigger issue with the trades is the overtime culture and excessive hours most of them face. With better hours with the same pay i think the whole industry and workers standards would benefit.

  • There were entire generations told diplomas were the only path to success and only "stupid people or drop outs" would do trades or jobs without a degree. Anecdotally speaking, most of the people I know who have jobs paying enough to purchase a house are in the trades, and most of them have phenomenal job security due to being hard to replace with another worker.

  • Ive seen similar stuff for sale in ontario and i think they're shipping them in from an eastern province. They aren't all eco-friendly but you can often ask for specific things like better glass or installation of a heat pump. They're often 800-1200 sq ft and can be trailered to a lot. They are often for sale in more rural cottage/hunt camp type areas.

    Maybe a better overall plan would be investing in companies that want to build simar stuff locally in each province. Try to provide local producers to make lots of em and encourage municipalities to be open to backyard suites and more lot splitting to plop them down faster.

  • If they were truly pro-life they would be pro school lunches, pro maternity leave, and other supports for the actual life of the child, but most of them aren't because thats too socialist. Pro life up until it pops out then they don't give a shit about the actual quality of life the baby receives.
