  • That shot from a distance is pretty wild as well, though I appreciate the detail in the closer shot more.

  • I'm not sure about this specific location, but I have seen similar structures (including being inside one) as a foreign visitor. There is something quite striking/humbling about large statues or similar structures when they dwarf anything in the area. They definitely give me a more surreal vibe in comparison to natural formations that stand out in similar ways.

  • "You love to see it, folks!"

  • This is a very common theme in both successful and unsuccessful attempts at totalitarian takeovers. Essentially blaming the opposition for specific issues/events, followed by a crackdown, then a "restructuring" (for managed opposition e.g. Zimbabwe's Tsvangirai) or completely outlawing the existence of such parties (Greece under Metaxas). I'm very concerned about the near future. If the Republicans (this is bigger than Trump) are successful in their final push for an authoritarian state, it will result in the death and suffering of billions, guaranteed.

  • This is about importing foreign white supremacists, not removing whites from Africa.

  • I guarantee those cops knew how dangerous those rabbit punches were.

  • It has been there since inception, before recent events. They killed pregnant women on horrific ways back in 1947, continuing into 1948's Nakba. There is a foundational issue with the state that is beyond correction.

  • There are always conclaves within and nearby the city that are deep red. This is often where cops live, which helps maintain the "occupying army" model of policing that dehuminizes the residents.

  • Sure have been. They've continued their genocide in both the west bank and Gaza. They are a rhodesia that gets a pass from the axis of cauc because it was a convenient way to repaint their antisemitism as good for Jewish people.

  • Ah! The ol' "kill the seed before it grows" approach! There's nothing wrong with that at all...

  • I wonder if you inadvertently set-up on the entrance to a ground nest, though they likely would have been aggressive if you had.

  • I recently started replaying ER, and it is very frustrating when an enemie's attacks pass through walls while my attacks click clack all day.

  • Voucher schools exist because christofascists found another way to gut funding from public schools and place it in private hands.

  • Definitely unusual for the business, but I would imagine it's better for the staff.

  • My Ma is like this. Growing up, we'd just let her argue for her movie choice and then put on what we wanted in less than 30m 🤣.

  • Absolutely, I just appreciate it that oats are a more responsible crop. I feel almonds are not great overall, though they are still much better than meat.

  • Carcinogenic when used externally? That would surprise me, giving how quickly it evaporates. I am a layman, though.

  • That's good news, especially using oat milk instead of something like almond milk that still has relatively high environmental cost.

  • I didn't know this joke had Yiddish origins. Funnily enough, it was told to me by my Jewish grandmother when she was explaining in a convoluted way that I should sweep before mopping 🤣.
