  • not blasting the games themselves since as you say they really do try to put in historical context, but do you really find it wild that the games that let you play as nazi germany and win WW2, or play as (insert favorite country with favorite flavor of nationalism here) and colonize more of the world than they originally did IRL, or prevent the fall of (favorite flavor of DEUS VULT nation here) has a huge right-wing playerbase?

they're gonna take fascism/slavery/theocracy makes the game harder and take that as an epic gamer challenge and completely bypass any possible lesson of the game with the same vigor as someone approaching a SL1 playthrough of a souls game

  • Pyonghattan Project

  • Returning Point USA

  • I didn't even know such a cursed edition of cave story existed

if you haven't already and you ever get the urge to cave story on 3DS again, the eShop version is really good since it's essentially cave story plus but with the original pixel art and widescreen/stereoscopic 3D

  • np comrade

last tip just in general when using these sites is have an ad blocker like ublock origin on and use Firefox, a year or two ago Google disabled a bunch of ad blocking functionality on Chrome

that and https://online-fix.me/ for multiplayer games, it's on the fmhy site but it's crazy how advanced game piracy is these days, as long as everyone's playing the same cracked copy you can just invite them to your game via steam lmao

  • I don't have the know-how of pirating in 2026

    fmhy.net

^ everything on it is curated, everything with a star is super curated, it has pretty much everything you'll ever need on it

for general game piracy i'd recommend https://ankergames.net/ and https://gog-games.to/. If you have a slower internet connection, https://fitgirl-repacks.site/. fmhy has other links to check out if your game isn't on any of these

just remember if you're doing any torrenting you need a VPN, since you're giving your IP to everyone you're downloading/uploading to/from, and copyright holders will often just like sit in the torrent and ISP strike everyone with visible IPs. i personally like mullvad

edit: also do not use Chrome since Google disabled a bunch of adblock functionality on Chrome

use Firefox and something like https://ublockorigin.com/

as for the 2010s wolfenstein games, 2009 is fine, The New Order is great, The New Colossus is good but definitely has a stronger second half, The Old Blood is a fun nazi zombies prequel, Youngblood is completely forgettable outside of co-op, if i was gonna play all of them i'd play them in this order

TNO -> TOB -> TNC -> if you're bored and want some more wolfenstein: 2009 (the three MachineGames games are a reboot, but they share some light continuity nods and characters with 2009) -> Youngblood if you're really, really bored and have a second person to rope into it

  • if the show doesn't revolve around someone wearing a farscape ahh jim henson lizardman rubber suit the entire show while a british woman keeps interrupting the dialogue to narrate the characters inner monologues while they stand around doing awkward idle animations for half a minute straight in the middle of what is supposed to be a conversation, I don't even want to look at the trailer

  • going home to watch my Hasbro TV show after watching The Mandalorian & Grogu

  • it's all good, im searching through the text using the disco elysium explorer site bc it's been like three years since i played DE so im working off of the literal text than what i barely remembered like an hour ago

i think purpleworm nailed it more than i did, the writers choosing a prion disease makes complete sense to me now under that lens

  • "And how would you stop a prion -- a complex folding protein; un-life -- with the technology 50 years ago?"

"It was a funny time in history. They'd discovered transistors and rock music, but they didn't know anything about prions. Nobody did."

between that and measurehead pointing to the revolution just being brain damage after the fact, i think you nailed it, this is why they chose a prion disease

  • me personally i think it's because it's a setting with sci-fi elements and they needed a cool medical name for a deadly disease

in literary terms though? i think if there was a allegorical reason for a prion disease, it was to represent the brainrot of the capitalist monarchy that the communards rebelled against. the old government allowed something to fester that was eating away at the minds of its people, and the people rose up against them because of that

  • I trust her as much as I trust Measurehead.

"THE REVOLUTION CAME TO REVACHOL FROM GRAAD, IN TZARAATH-RIDDEN POTATO CARTS -- IT IS LITERALLY AN ILLNESS. A PRION DISEASE THAT LEAVES THE PARIETAL AND FRONTAL LOBE RIDDEN WITH HOLES. A SOFT, SPONGELIKE MASS OF DEMENTIA, HALLUCINATIONS, AND PARANOIA... THE REVOLUTION IS FATAL FAMILIAL INSOMNIA. A HEREDITARY PRION CONDITION PASSED FROM THE KOJKO TO THE OCCIDENTALS..." He pauses in theoretic self-reflection. "BUT NOT SEXUALLY, PROBABLY THROUGH TRADE ROUTES AND POTATE-ACID, THE PRIME COMPONENT OF THE POTATO PLANT..."

well considering that the disease itself is only discussed by two people, measurehead and someone who is an awful person driven by capital but despite that still admits that the revolution wasn't a brain disease and that the communists might have built something better than the coalition if they had won, i think joyce is the much more reasonable source here lmao

  • "What did this tzaraath do?"

"It made people overthrow their governments."

    "Wow, really?"

"Of course not. It was a highly infectious microorganism that destroyed brain tissue. The actual causes of the Revolution were material. The pandemic only provided the spark."

the game makes it pretty explicit it was the unrest caused by the government failing to contain the disease, and not the disease itself that caused the revolution, the person that says the revolution was caused by the disease itself is

    lmao

  • goddamn that sunburn
