Wait…did you read the comic or watch the shitty animated adaptation?

I saw a really great comment/take on a thread for the movie that pointed out: if DC had balls they would really contrast Superman’s experience as an Immigrant with the black coded and/or presenting Martian Manhunter. Superman is white, conventionally attractive, and fully assimilates which leads to his story being emblematic about the beauty of immigration and the American dream…whereas J’onn often has to literally mask and hide his true nature to avoid Ostracization.
One of the punchlines of that story is that President Luthor eventually institutes a planned economy to fight back against Superman…so by the end of the story the conflict isn’t even about capitalism versus socialism but whether or not the dominant ideology will be socialism with superman characteristic, or socialism with Luthor characteristics.
This kinda weird shit is a big part of why I love star wars. If it were cannon that there’s a Chucky cheese style outer rim attraction with repurposed trade federation droids doing song and dance numbers it would be entirely consistent and on brand for the universe.
Hard agree. Hell even BB-8 is a really goddamn cool design.
There’s a flat to VR mod that really takes this to the next level. No motion controls but you can just straight up put on the headset and use the controller to walk around the world as you turn around and look at everything and just feel how alive and atmospheric the city is. Its awesome…if you can run it.
You’re not wrong…but isn’t it fucking wild how we’ve just totally normalized and accepted the idea that if you get a call on your phone and its a number you don’t recognize there is a 90%+ chance that it is someone on the other end looking to do and engage in literal crimes?
I think what the article is highlighting though is that while the material things he was offering are the primary reason for his victory…what’s genuinely wild and kind of a game changer is that its not even really accurate to say he won in spite of the third rail issues of Israel and antisemitism claims he was weighed down with. Its looking like there’s very little evidence to suggest that it even hurt him or had any impact at all. That should scare the shit out of the DNC.
I always find it so hilarious that neoliberals will simultaneously build their lives and world views around hypothetical technological solutions that will resolve resource/logistical realities like magic and then turn around and say that the problem with Communism is that its too utopian or idealistic.
I personally know like several guys here in the US that would enter into a relationship with an obviously evil demon if that demon had a cartoonishly artificial set of booba.
I mean to be fair…some of us are into obviously evil demons for their personality…
He should have been the one to fill his dark soul with LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHTTTTTTTTT!!!
Honestly in your position I would say just skip the gym altogether and focus on doing 20-30 minute or calisthenics/cardio using some household items and a pullup bar at home. Pullups, dips, squats, etc.
I get your time is limited but it’s pretty much always gonna be better to get a little bit of exercise every day then a huge amount once every 7 days.
Misandry definitely isn’t a systemic issue but I feel the need to push back to say: men are systemically oppressed. The whole point of the concept of patriarchy is that while the form is different both men and women can be both oppressed and oppressors under it. Part of the entire reason why MRAs are completely full of shit is that basically all of the issues they are concerned with, to the extent that they are real issues, (ie family court) can all be traced back to patriarchy and capitalism.
Good instinct, adaptation is infinitely worse. I was gonna say: the movie is trash and blatantly anti Stalin and USSR but I think you’re being a bit too harsh of the comic because I remember it actually being quite sympathetic.
