  • Realistically it's not crazy to be at least a little bit upset with the sheer fucking number of them. I just wanted to make sure you and others knew that you can hide those smut games without hiding like everything with any NSFW content in it.

  • You can hide those porn games in your preferences at least. Not the same, but at least you don't have to see them if you don't want to. It even distinguishes between games that have nudity/sex and those that are flat out porn.

  • There's a setting in your store preferences to hide those games. It distinguishes between "there's sometimes nudity" and "porn game" even.

  • If I had to guess I'd say it's based on the Fairly Oddparents episode where Timmy becomes a girl for a day and spends time with Trixie trying to figure out what she wants for her birthday.

  • That's only if you're a person from outside that was put into the simulation. If we're all just simulated beings we'd never know.

  • No that's Abu. You're thinking of that alien dude that eats cats.

  • The absolute least surprising thing about that situation. He's been so absolutely weird about her every time he speaks about her. Makes my fucking skin crawl.

  • I know the feeling as someone with ADHD. There are many things that I want to go but cannot for the life of me motivate myself to actually do them.

  • Yeah I missed that one. When I was writing it I changed my wording from "they should not be allowed," to "no one should be allowed," and missed a word. Thanks.

  • Add to that radicalization pipeline bit the fact that obscene wealth like what Notch came into tends to be extremely socially isolating and directly causes people to lose touch with reality. Not to be like "oh the poor billionaires," but having that kind of money literally causes mental illness. For their own good, no one should be allowed to have that kind of money.

  • IMO it's probably most likely an overzealous bootleg detection system hitting a false positive or someone selling a really convincing bootleg.

Don't get me wrong, Nintendo absolutely wants to kill the used market. Iirc multiple executives have been on record voicing opposition to the used game market. But I definitely think it's more likely that they got a false positive on the "is this game pirated?" detector and nuked the console.

  • To add to this, for many phobic leaning people they have never actually met a trans person in their lives. The most exposure they have to us is the propaganda they've been fed for years about how we're all either groomers or were ourselves groomed into being trans. The closest a lot of them have come to a real life trans person is a cis woman they've mistakenly labeled as trans in their minds because they find her kind of ugly.

  • Cynically that means that the spoiler effect might actually work in our favor if he does go through with it. I'm not gonna hold my breath for it, but it would be so funny if Musk's ego actually leads to the Republican party splitting and losing because they can't decide how many poor people and minorities they want to throw into a wood chipper.

  • Do you know what "distinction without difference" means? It's when you present two things as being entirely different when they function the same way. By treating what ICE is going right now as some new "distinct" thing and ignoring how it's part of a broader issue you make it easier to ignore the whole issue.

Say we win and ICE vanished tomorrow. What is there to stop Red States from just weaponizing the regular old carceral system to effectively continue the same policy? How do you fight against it when you were so bent on saying "No, this is different," and everyone just shrugs because "Oh they're getting due process now. What more do you want? They're criminals,"

You don't have to say that this is some new horror we've never seen before to stress how bad what ICE is doing is. You're actively working against yourself when you make ICE out to be some extraordinary aberration and not the natural progression of American policing.

  • The fuck do you mean am I for real? Yes let's compare this group of people getting arrested by "law enforcement officers" because "trust me bro, they're criminals and need to be deported," with this group of people being arrested by law enforcement officers because "trust me bro, they're criminals and need to go to prison," shall we?

One group gets no trial, the other gets pressured into pleading guilty regardless of whether they actually did the thing they were arrested for, gets as little as 5 minutes with their public defender depending on the location, and can still end up losing everything even if they're acquitted because of how long they were held for. Oh yeah, that's due process alright.

Of course ICE is the battle we need to fight right now, but let's not fucking pretend that this is some fresh horror we've never seen before. They just feel like they can get away with being more bold with it because "they're illegals" where they don't feel that way with poor people yet. They still feel the need to pretend we get due process.

  • No no no, it's where you learn to make partially dehydrated juice that you can freeze for easy storage and just add water to when you're ready to make it.

  • It's a distinction without a difference. At the end of the day both groups are still random people the government has said "These are bad people trust us," and have not proven it. Pretrial detention still definitionally means they're being held without trial. It's just been decided it's okay in one situation and not the other. What does it matter if someone is theoretically "awaiting trial" if in practice they are just waiting the rest of their lives?

Yes, the immigration detentions are worse. But both are still fundamentally denying due process to those detained.

  • A huge chunk of the American carceral system is people in jail awaiting trial. According to the Prison Policy Institute 70% of the population of city and county jails are pretrial detentions. They can't afford bail so they are stuck in jail without ever being convicted of anything.

  • Oh yeah, for sure. Personally I see Carter as the "good version" if you can call it such a thing of the "Do-Nothing Democrat" if that makes sense. The thought that basically all Democrats have to do is be faithful stewards of the status quo and allow the arc of the universe to slowly bend towards justice. To tinker around the edges letting incrementalism and institutionalism carry them forward.

Then as time wore on more and more the Democrats would start saying "why shouldn't I enrich myself a little? After all, all we really have to do is keep the institutions going and they're doing that just fine on their own," until you get to the ghouls of today. Where they're there because they deserve to be there, and they deserve to be there because they're there. All the while lining their own pockets and saying "Fuck you, I got mine," to everybody else.
