  • It's true but weak at the same time:

    • Have you read bible/quran and the other books in christianity/islam? No? Then you can't criticize it!
    • Have you read at least some books about astrology?
    • Have you read books about flat Earth?
    • Have you read Mein Kampf?
    • ... and so on

It's true that if you want to have a deep down discussion about Marxism, you need to read the book, there's no way around it. But at the same time it's unrealistic to expect that most people will read at least some books for every ideology to form an opinion

  • Are you a dwarf?

  • Everyday we stray further from God

  • So I hate women because I'm attracted to women?

  • Ah! I didn't even know about this community, thanks! I crosspost there

  • Sort of correct? At least the lady is pretty spot on, summer dress, short skirt. The hair is a bit extravagant but we did have more pompous hair styles in the 50s and 60s. The only thing that seems out of place is the bow but not by a lot

The guy is ridiculous of course. Well at least the outfit. Because looking at today's rapers with their crazy tattoos ...

  • I think the meme is attempting to disparage the "ungratefulness" of present day liberals in these FSU countries

Yes, well this is basically Russian diplomacy propaganda 101 - "I did this and that for you and now you're ungrateful". Similar stuff abusing husband says to abused wife. Basically if russians helped you in any way in history, you're supposed to be their vasal until the end of the universe, there's no expiring date on that. It's abusive and disgusting

  • Exactly, I pointed it out because soviets often try to steal all the achievements of the country - same as in this meme, a horde of russians came and built for poor, dumb baltic people all the stuff. In reality, it's much more complex and those constructions were built by local workers, local architects, etc. With russian money I guess but that begs the question - who should get credit for those buildings then?

  • Who built those hospitals, schools, libraries? Russians or the people of baltic countries?

  • It's actually very simple

    • Fry onion on oil
    • Add 1kg of any mushrooms (in my case it was oyster mushrooms + champignons, roughly 1:1 )
    • Fry a bit until mushrooms reduce their volume
    • Add 3 tbsp of ground paprika, a bit of ground cumin, salt and black pepper
    • Cover the pot and cook for 10 min
    • Add mixture of 200 ml almond milk + 200 ml soy cream + 2 tbsp of flour
    • Cook uncovered for another 10 min
    • Done. The dumplings are just a mixture of 350g of flour and 300 ml of water (and salt)

And it was absolutely delicious :) I was actually surprised how good it turned out

EDIT: Original recipe in Slovak if it helps. I did some changes though (f.e. replaced butter with oil or used regular flour for dumplings)

  • Oh, typo :) Thanks, fixed

  • This. To put it simply, people respond better to what's familiar and to what has a clear goal. F.e. if you're about to open a restaurant, don't sell power tools in it. If you want to sell powertools, create a separate store

  • And the one US car brand that sold well in Europe, Tesla

Well I mean there's Ford as well and they sell pretty good as far as I know

  • Unfortunately yes for Slovakia. I mean I like Bratislava, I lived there more than a decade, it's nice but ... I feel like we have so many more interresting cities. From top of my head Banská Štiavnica and Bardejov (both UNESCO city centers) or personally I really liked Trenčín and Banská Bystrica, or Poprad being next to Tatra mountains ...

  • I'm from the 90s and can confirm this is true

  • Yes but only because of a guy in 1910s who looked into it

The identity of Henry Symeonis was only (re-)discovered in 1912 by the then Keeper of the University Archives, Reginald Lane Poole. In an article for the English Historical Review, he looked at the curious statute and tried to get to the bottom of the Henry Symeonis mystery.
