  • You know, I keep wondering this, because it genuinely is a similar amount of work. It's just putting two dry and one wet thing in a pot. It takes me maybe 3 minutes. You don't even have to do the 'bring to a boil, then turn the heat down' bit the other person described. Just turn on medium heat and leave it be. I'd probably take longer reading the package instructions and following them correctly on something ready made.

That said, I've gotten ready made meals for lunch when my work only had a microwave and no real kitchen.

  • Ok but absolutely slaying in terms of your look intimidates people and makes them leave you alone

  • Möhren, Apfelsinen

  • Oh yeah I do that already!

  • Most of them are, because they were built centuries ago when contempt for the disabled was even more en vogue than now. The difference is that this one is apparently going backwards in that regard, while many others are trying to go forward. For example, my city is gradually remodeling bus/tram stops to allow level access to the vehicle.

  • People keep saying this exact shit like 'shitpost' is synonymous with 'anything goes and shall not be criticised'

Edit: guys stop criticizing this comment this is a shitpost community

  • The only thing in the way is my astounding lack of object permanence

  • I wish, I struggle to keep focus if I don't physically turn the page

  • Ugh but books are just about the main thing I'm consumerist about. I WANT to have them in my home indefinitely. I want to be reminded a specific title exists by seeing it on the shelf, and then reread it. And I want to underline or comment on my favourite passages in pencil. They're the one non-necessity I'll keep splurging on; pretty much everything else is handed down, borrowed, or necessary to some extent.

  • Thanks for providing an explanation that's both logical and compassionate!

  • Interesting! Nobody at my institute is a native English speaker. They're from several European and some Asian and south American countries.

  • I'm a theoretical physics grad student and a night school maths teacher, I have never heard this distinction. People in academia around me call them round and square brackets.

  • Gay is when you have a girlfriend. So regardless of if you're straight, lesbian, bi, pan, etc., if you have a girlfriend, you're gay. If you have a boyfriend, nb partner, or no partner, you're straight. Poly people are gay as soon as they date at least one person who they use the term girlfriend for. If you're a middle aged woman who refers to her female friends as girlfriends, guess what, gay. Hope this helps

  • But as I said, this specific issue is something I witness among NTs all the time, not just between ND and NT.

  • I've seen and heard both men and women bring up their own stretch marks, but I've almost* never seen or heard anyone of any gender bring up someone else's. And I have stretch marks, and have been seen naked by several people of various genders.

*the one exception I've seen is as part of a list of reasons husbands have given for why they find their wives unattractive post pregnancy. And that was maybe twice and in anonymous comments.

  • Find out what your hair 'needs'. Is it dry and kinda straw like? Are the tips frayed? Does it poof up? Does it frizz, ie are there many stray hairs flying around?

In general though, hydrating shampoo helps with growing out unless you have suuuuper oily hair, in which case you should use a clarifying shampoo, but only rub it onto your scalp.

  • Even literally just using the right shampoo as opposed to something like body wash can make a big difference, in case you're interested

  • From experience, I can tell you this is actually short haired vs long haired people. You can't really grow out your hair without the ends going to shit if you mistreat it.

  • I got some preliminary testing done by a clinical psychologist for both ADHD and autism, and it indicated I have both. For a diagnosis to 'count' medically, you have to have a doctor make it though, so I went to a psychiatrist.

Both the psychologist and psychiatrist basically advised that I should only seek a medical diagnosis for neurodivergence if I was going to seel treatment or other disability accomodations with it. Otherwise, there's no real benefit and a huge chance of discrimination by other doctors. A friend, who's from another country, said her psych gave the exact same advice.

So I only got a medical diagnosis for ADHD and remain content with the psychologist's autism 'diagnosis'.
