  • 10 hours of Reddit? Disgusting

  • How many is that now? It’d be easier just to suspend the lot of them at this rate

  • Also he has a proper day job so this is all in his free time. Crazy

  • I wonder what the split would be for a dictator doing what I want vs going against what I want

  • While I’m not saying the farmer quote shares this belief but it’s hard to take when there have been so many “farmers protests” about changes to subsidies linked to reducing emissions and planting more trees

  • Are any under 16 buying the phones themselves? With the price of phones now I’d guess for the vast majority it is the parents themselves buy it for their kids.

At that point it’s for the parents to decide for themselves

  • It’s also worth checking your local library which might offer some basic printing services. Could work out cheaper

  • Brain chips from the people who “move fast and break things”. This can only end well.

  • Yeah in mastodon you can block a whole instance. That’s why some servers are against threads but don’t want to defederate as they see it as the users choice

  • Can’t wait for yet another presentation that is nothing but “we are doing AI too”

  • Jesus Christ, 1.5k upvotes on an ad. I know it didn’t say it explicitly but it does read very much like an ad

  • Has there really been a killer must-have feature from TVs in the last couple of years? If yours is still working is there a need to buy another?

  • On iOS the browser isn’t really Firefox. It’s just a re-skinned Safari due to apples rules. I think now they are allowed to ship their own engines

  • I’m interested in these types of games but fear that as I don’t have a a lot of time to play and don’t have regular times to play, I’d get half way through and just forget what’s going on.

  • The entire point of the “fediverse” is to combat the network effect. Don’t like Lemmy? Move to another app and still communicate with people on Lemmy. Plus it’s all open, can’t find an app you like? Build one or wait for someone to build one you like.

  • The progress made in AI has been immense the last couple of years but it’s hard to tell if that’s right, or it’s like self driving cars, that have been “5 years away” every year for 10 years

  • I was surprised the first Trump presidency wasn’t a big wake up call for the EU to stand more on its own and lessen dependency on the US. I think they thought it would go back to normal after Trump, but with a second term at least possible, it needs to be ready for it.

  • I think it’s because people are less polarised than in the US (despite the media’s best efforts). Most people fall somewhere near the centre and so the conservative leadership is somewhat scared of its MPs dragging it further to the right.

I will add that the Tories are in a bit of a shambles at the minute and so they will swing randomly between centre-right and right-wing due to inept leaders

  • Public executions used to be common and yet people still murdered. It clearly isn’t a deterrent and worse case you execute an innocent person.
