DivineDev@piefed.socialto World News@quokk.au•German politician steps down over swastika on ballotEnglish4·6 days agoSwastikas aren’t outlawed outright, they’re fine when displayed in a disapproving way, such as a crossed out swastika or a swastika being thrown in a bin.
This is a different case though, I’m not sure if he could have argued he used it to disapprove of the AfDs fascist policies and get away with it.
DivineDev@piefed.socialto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•They even got their own island🤦English91·7 days agoAnd that’s why you don’t do racist, sexist or pedo jokes online. No matter how obviously non serious you think you are, some idiot will agree with you.
Edit: added missing word
DivineDev@piefed.socialto politics @lemmy.world•‘POTUS is clearly furious’: White House is frustrated by all-consuming Epstein coverageEnglish50·10 days agoJust keep it up, he has trouble controlling himself when he’s angry and might just accidentally let something slip

DivineDev@piefed.socialto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•We all know grammar Nazis. What incorrect grammar are you completely in defence of?English13·13 days agoIn German there’s the saying “macht Sinn”, which is wrong since it’s just a direct translation of “makes sense”. Correct would be “ergibt Sinn”, in English “results in sense”, but I don’t care, “macht Sinn” rolls off the tongue easier.
DivineDev@piefed.socialto politics @lemmy.world•Why Is Trump Putting Makeup on His Very Normal Hand Bruise?English2·16 days agoIt could just be a bug bite, but I’m hoping he punched a wall in anger over the Epstein files.
I maintain that a game that is not specifically a stealth game should have no stealth sections at all. They’re always bad.
DivineDev@piefed.socialto Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Google Fonts has a font called "Manufacturing Consent"English372·17 days agoI think it’s definitely necessary to accept people who did bad things if they truly change and realize the problems they’ve caused. That applies not just to people who hang out with Nazis but also actual Nazis. When you get out of a far right group, you basically lose all your friends at once and if there’s nothing else to go back to, it will make people think twice before going that step even if they’re ready for it.
DivineDev@piefed.socialto politics @lemmy.world•Poll: Zohran Mamdani's policies are popular with Americans outside New York — even if Mamdani is notEnglish3·19 days agoI fully agree. Companies should belong to the people that allow I to turn a profit, and that is, well, every employee. The founders could still remain the CEOs if they do a good job and are elected to do so.
DivineDev@piefed.socialto Games@lemmy.world•Vintage gaming advertising pictures: a galleryEnglish4·20 days agoThe foot for your distraught friend/partner in prison is cold, damn I like these old ad campaigns.
DivineDev@piefed.socialto politics @lemmy.world•Poll: Zohran Mamdani's policies are popular with Americans outside New York — even if Mamdani is notEnglish91·20 days agoSo progressives must decide whether they hide from the term, enabling the fearmongering, or openly embracing it to show there is nothing wrong with it.
I’ve been wondering, what if they just ran in the opposite direction? Don’t call it “state-owned industry” or “collective ownership”, but instead “Hypercapitalism: every citizen is a shareholder!”
DivineDev@piefed.socialto politics @lemmy.world•Poll: Zohran Mamdani's policies are popular with Americans outside New York — even if Mamdani is notEnglish45·20 days agoExactly, the wording is extremely important when talking about policies. People like “helping the poor”, but people hate “welfare”, because that’s communism or something.
DivineDev@piefed.socialto News@lemmy.world•Trump asks Liberian president where he learned English, his country's official languageEnglish21·23 days agoI didn’t, but I’d have looked up some basic information about a country I’m dealing with in an official capacity if I was the PRESIDENT OF THE US.
DivineDev@piefed.socialto Linux@programming.dev•Okay why is your distro the best?English3·23 days agoNo further arguments needed.
DivineDev@piefed.socialto Linux@programming.dev•Okay why is your distro the best?English2·23 days agoNobara: It works well most of the time and has pretty much everything needed for gaming preinstalled. I had a bad update once that prevented booting past the command line though. Now that I’m more experienced I’d probably use a more mainline distro and install the gaming stuff myself.
If he only wants to create something and not deal with any user issues, he could just do that. Going out of his way to tell users to fuck off is extra work he could just not do and everyone would be happier
