  • In the greater Toronto area. So many vacant condo units. Pre-construction buildings not having enough sold units to meet threshold and thus not being built. Builders being forced to reduce pricing or offer up better incentives to buyers.

But who has $20,000 sitting around to make a down payment on a 1 Million dollar townhome? Wages need to go up. That starts with our employers.

  • Why are they trying to build more houses when we have a surplus of units? Builders aren’t building anymore because their existing inventory isn’t selling.

They won’t drop prices because of greed and using real estate as investments. So now we have immigrants with low-paying jobs trying to buy homes with inflated price tags.

Either lower prices of homes or start paying workers more so they can afford homes.

  • True true! I’m just old enough to remember the big separatist movement from Quebec in 1995 when they narrowly voted to stay a part of Canada.

  • The anti-American / pro-Canadian sentiment is huge right now. The switch to EB (Electronic Boutique) will bump sales for sure.

Just think it’s a little ironic that it’s a Quebec company that’s saving it.

  • I don't see how any of this matters.

He is literally and figuratively above the law. He will face zero consequences.

  • This is it. When they forced us back into the office, it was less about afternoon naps and avoiding traffic. It was more about being able to see my dr that closes at 4pm or taking my elderly parents to their appointments. Cooking dinners to avoid takeout and getting ‘me’ time between zoom calls. They took that away from us. Now it’s 9-5 and not a minute more.

  • Yeah what's up with these NDP / Jagmeet Singh posts on here lately? It's a two horse race. Jag needs to back off and stop splitting the left vote else Canada will suffer from a Conservative majority.

  • If Trump was elected in the 80s, he wouldn't be alive long enough to change the name plate of the oval office desk. We're living through such a wild time in history.

  • I'm originally from the UK but moved to Canada when little.

Fall is my favorite season. I LOVE cold, dark, rainy days. My entire body just feels relaxed.

Summers here are getting hotter and hotter, with long stretches of 30c where you can't do anything.

Winters here are either painfully freezing with face-cracking winds or giant dumpings of snow that make getting around impossible

Fall is a nice blend of cooler temps, a little rain, a little darkness, a fresh start with kids gone back to school, just generally pleasant as long as you don't have to clean up too many fallen leaves :)

  • Is it normal? Yes. Is it healthy? No. I wish I spent my younger years focused on building myself rather than worrying about things out of my control.

Find yourself. Find what motivates you and makes you happy. Learn to be happy on your own. Learn to be confident without the validation from others. As you go through that journey, you'll run into similar like-minded people and maybe some that you're actually attracted to (lol)

It'll happen when you least expect it when you're focused on other priorities. Hope this helps.

  • Canada @lemmy.ca

    Legit Poll or No?

  • I pulled the hydrometer out of my cigar humidor to became more aware of the dampness of my basement. I also spent over $1,000 on evicting a family of raccoons out from under my backyard deck. So yeah, I get it HAH

  • I'm in the same boat. Bought a home in 2020. It's been a constant stream of fixes and updates and replacements. My mortgage payments are high enough. Now we're dumping thousands of dollars on flood prevention, evestrough replacement, random leaky pipes, furnace cleaning, deck refinishing, grass and landscaping. Wife and I both work full-time. We are dipping into savings to upkeep our home. I totally regret it. Should have bought a 2-3bed condo instead. At least we could plan for the monthly condo fees and not worry about sudden emergency fixes. I don't know. I hate it.

  • I know people like this. They truly believe like they are doing society a favor by buying up houses and renting them out. The disconnect from reality is wild.
