  • I don't know how to do that. Maybe a mod can do it. I don't understand the point though, the cw would still contain the word suicide, presumably?

  • It was kind of hilarious, the bloke was clearly out of it. I guess I look like a tramp though.

  • I went to the shop today and as I was outside an extremely drunk man came staggering along. He stopped, looked me up and down and got a huge grin on his face and yelled, "HA! I've got more money than you!" And then staggered off. I've never seen him before in my life, I guess I must just look really poor. It did give me a laugh though, at least.

I was a member of a $u!c1d£ forum, looking for someone to help me un@l!v£ myself. Mainly due to extreme poverty and starvation after my disability benefits were stopped. People kept making pacts with me, then letting me down. I ended up completely penniless and starving and tried to sell my prescription medications on the site as I had nothing else to sell. I got banned for that but right before I got banned someone there told me about hexbear's mutual aid and said I should ask for help there, that's how I found this site. And this place has kept me alive for months, both with food and friendship. I didn't have anyone to talk to in real life as everyone abandoned me when I got sick.

I think immunocompetent, healthy people just don't even consider the ramifications of their poor hygiene, because it's unlikely to affect them. If they come into contact with germs, they can fight them off. So they quit wearing masks as soon as they could because it doesn't affect them. And they absentmindedly touch things, like this woman rubbing the box on her mouth, and my pet hate - licking their fingers before opening a bag that they're about to hand to you. They don't have to even think about the germs they're spreading but for me whenever I see these things I'm worried about what I'm going to catch.

  • Thank you. People really do punch down a lot. I get the impression most people choose to believe that if they work hard, this (disability, unemployment, poverty, etc) can never happen to them, as a kind of defence mechanism because deep down they're worried it might happen to them. But this of course means that people who do suffer these things deserve them, because they didn't try hard enough. So they treat less fortunate people badly. It's the same way they choose to believe that there is so much help out there, like benefits being easy to obtain and food banks being easy to access, when the reality is very different. Poor people have it easy, you can get anything you need for free, right? They choose to believe this because they want to have a good opinion of themselves and if they admitted that they choose to keep voting for parties who are hard on the poor (slashing benefits, closing down food banks etc) they'd have to admit that they're a selfish person who doesn't care about others.
