Mostly a backup account for now, other @Deebsters are available.

  • FFS, can't we have anything!?

  • If we're replacing cilia as well, the fact that respiratory cilia exists means she's probably got severe to fatal breathing problems too.

  • I'm still deciding how much I agree or disagree with this. It's true that they do cite books which you often can't read online, but adding information backed up by a paywalled proof feels a bit "trust me bro". E.g. I could find/create a site with an impossibly large paywall and no-one would realistically able to check my sources.

  • You're absolutely right, I'll edit my comment. Thanks for the catch.

  • Brilliant articles, thanks - written by someone completely conversant in both birds and internet culture, with a sense of humour but also communicating bird facts and including citations for things like why round things are cuter.

  • In my decades of work in the UK (from nightshift shelf stacker to software architect) I've never not had one hour.

  • Disgraceful, old-fashioned actions from the unnamed diving certifiers insurer - and, as the major diving insurance company (based in Malta) is DAN World Insurance Group SP, it's clear that DAN puts their reputation above child safety.

    (edited out misdirected finger pointing)

I would add that I'm not sure 30 days is "generous" given that 90 days is somewhat standard, but given that it took only two days for a lawyer's threats to arrive that's not too relevant.

  • I didn't think it could have anything to do with DNS, but again I was wrong.

  • Perhaps that you were the thirteen apostle, or you invented oxygen. I think the most obviously false, the better.

  • That user seems to spend most of their time on Lemmy "correcting" people's spelling, including correctly spelt words that Americans spell differently. So, they're either a troll or just insufferable.

  • This reminds me of when a couple of lost Doctor Who episodes were found but the owner was nervous to share them with the BBC because he feared confiscation and/or prosecution. I don't know what happened with that story.

  • From the article, fourth paragraph:

There's also a financial impact. If developers spot that Claude is going down a wrong track, they can interrupt and avoid wasting tokens.

@bjorney@lemmy.ca understood what I was referring to, I don't really understand what you thought I was saying.

  • Weeks later and no resolution... I guess he failed to get them delivered.

  • So Anthropic have made a change that prevented people from wasting tokens? I'm sure they'll be very keen to reverse that.

  • No, although you might be able to translate using your phone, e.g. on my Android I can use the "scroll and translate" feature (I'm not sure if it's sent to Google or if it's done on your phone, so you might find the privacy implications a deal-breaker).

With ich_iel, I remember someone on Lemmy explaining that the German is translated from English in a very literal way, so it's not at all idiomatic or even coherent German. Perhaps machine translation would cope with that just fine, or it might completely fail, but I think you'd lose what makes it funny.

  • That thumbnail is funny, I guess each group must be a single tile so it's pretty easy

  • I always flick the subtitles on at the end to see how the jazz is described and how he transcribes his bloopers.
