  • If you're looking at a group that is requiring their launcher, don't walk away, run. There are groups doing this that are legit (or as legit as piracy gets) and the only thing you download from them is a txt with a token inside. It's not bound to your Steam account and yes, it's specific to games with the dreaded malware baked in. The system these people are using is to simply trick the Denuvo into thinking you're supposed to have the game.

  • As a semi driver, I can confirm that pretty much everything to do with the vehicle is legally the driver's responsibility, including times when it's unreasonable. Snow and ice on top of the vehicle is one of them. Yes, I know how this sounds but those trailers we pull don't come with ladders or anything and we commonly have to park up in the middle of nowhere, so also consider it from the angle of "How the fuck do I get up there to get rid of sheet ice?"

  • The best way to know if it's for you is to try watching a bit. The 3-episode rule is a thing for exactly this purpose. Sometimes even 1 is enough to know if you're going to like something, but some take a few episodes to get to the crux of what's going on.

  • Second this. It's great. I'll also add that if you have a meaty GPU, look into how to set up GPU-based encoding. This takes strain off the CPU and drastically reduces the time required per job.

    Compress to a HEVC MKV codec and you can quite easily shrink a video down to a quarter of the original size and still have 1080p.
