Darthjaffacake@lemmy.worldto Europe@lemmy.ml•A European Citizens Initiative wants to introduce a Wealth Tax (and they need your help)51·1 year agoProgressive taxes are a way to make up for the imbalance of poorer people spending a higher proportion of their income on essentials, it’s a fundamental of economics. Although I have heard that the tax brackets in Russia are completely flat (not that that makes it any better).
They do something fun with this in the three body problem. It’s amazing and makes a ton of sense but in the real world the application will probably be a lot cleaner.
Yeah I got called a narcissist with my worst ex and then just flat out asked if they knew what it meant, I think it was a little telling they didn’t actually know (not that I do either lol). It’s really hard being with someone who makes you feel loved but doesn’t love you and I’m so proud of you for being on the other side of it and being happy!

It doesn’t say what the numbers represent I think?

Darthjaffacake@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•EU antitrust chief to Tim Cook: Apple must allow third-party app storesEnglish2·1 year agoI really get it man, I was originally not gonna take the offer (it was a take it or leave it, not a situation I could sell it) since I love all the open systems android uses. Unfortunately, I’ve been buying androids for the vast majority of my life and they just haven’t been that usable for me. It’s not like I’m giving money to apple anyway since I’m not buying anything from them and I would really benefit from 3rd party apps since I used to use them on a daily basis on my android.

Darthjaffacake@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•EU antitrust chief to Tim Cook: Apple must allow third-party app storesEnglish10·1 year agoI got given an iPhone, owning a branded product isn’t as much of a choice as you’d think. And it really doesn’t change anything for you since you’d have to actively go out of your way normally to use a 3rd party app store. The walled garden is still there unless you go exploring.

Missiles don’t have that amount of kickback unlike guns since their propulsion comes gradually and from themselves.
