We're just the "consumers" line on their spreadsheet. We're a commodity to them to be exploited for their personal gain, just like everything else on the planet.
The only consideration they give us is that we might get pissed off enough someday to divide their head from their shoulders, the way they've worked for 60+ years to divide us against ourselves.
Win10 -> Linux Mint, with a short stopover in Ubuntu.
First I ran it dual boot. When I decided to dump Windows completely, I made one big mistake. I didn't understand how Linux designates drives very well, and I ended up formatting one of my drives I didn't mean to.
I don't feel like Mint is lacking, so I haven't bothered checking out other distros. I just wanted something that works, and Mint works fine for me.
The only Windows feature I miss is the big preview in file explorer.
I expect that doctors agree. Unfortunately, in the U.S. at least, doctors are not in charge of these decisions. Money is. And, money is convinced this will get them more money, so AI is being forced down their throats. Just like everywhere else.
Money is greedy, money is fast, but money isn't smart. We just remember the shit that worked, and forget all the failures along the way.
They're going to lose their shirts over this shit.
They're trying to force their utopian vision of robot and human slaves serving the "elite", but they need the slave's help to get there. Probably, that time will come, but not in their lifetime, and that's what's pissing them off. It's all about them--their selfish, psychopathic desires, humanity be damned. It's also why they're trying to develop immortality drugs--they see the dream of all past capitalist overlords as finally, possibly in their grasp, but they can't quite get it. They're like frustrated monkeys reaching through the cage bars and fighting each other.
I've never so much as touched a gun and I know all of this. I suppose I've just absorbed it through constant contact in my peripheral. Recent movies are getting trigger discipline better, but TV shows still get it wrong.
Yeah, they blew that one. But, I suspect it's because they associate "fast food" with KFC, over McDonald's. Although, I think McD's is nearly as well known, if not as well liked there?
American here. The US fully deserves to be mocked, blocked, ridiculed, and shunned.
I'm a Democratic Socialist, and have never voted for a Republican in my life. I'm as stuck with this BS as are the Britons who didn't vote for Brexit. I laughed at the Brits while Trump was in his first term saying, "At least our fuck-up will be gone in four years."
It's like when IBM left its PC manufacturing to Lenovo. And, probably a ton of other examples I've never paid any attention to.
It's starting to feel like only old people look at a screen bigger than six inches. That, combined with displays becoming a commodity item, leads to the manufacturing being abandoned to commodity manufacturers. If Sony could bring anything of value that would justify the cost of holding on to this, they would. Sony's name hasn't been synonymous with quality for decades now, that's partly their own doing through poor choices, but also the quality of cheap displays is perfectly adequate for most people.
Cherry pie filling. Which is mostly artificial cherry flavor like used in cough syrup, water, sugar, and corn starch. So... you probably shouldn't eat either one.
I mean it is harder to save at arbitrary points because the amount of information you have to save and restore can be a lot more.
So, instead of being instantaneous, it takes two seconds? Or five? That's no good excuse.
I can play for three hours in Fallout 4, forgetting to save the entire time, then remembering to hit F5, and it takes literally two seconds to save. It's just a database text file sitting in RAM that needs to be written to the drive. And, most people are playing off SSDs, so even a huge text file with hundreds of thousands of entries would write in a second.
No, this isn't about physical limitations of the hardware, or how much time it takes.
