I’ve stopped giving myself a hard time for having wandering interests and not finishing anything.
I try to look at it more as I’m having fun researching and implementing things, that’s what hobbies are for.
Trying to force myself to finish things really sucked the fun out of them. Now I have literal and figurative buckets for each project so I can easily put down and pick up projects.
I find myself moving between fewer projects and putting more effort into them than I would have before.
I do keep some buckets closer than others, so I’m more likely to pick those up when I have free time;
Even ignoring the other major characters, interacting with any standard enemy shatters their hard and hostile exterior and releases the cute and fuzzy little goober inside.
Just buy a good 3d printer for your first. Sure, it’ll cost money, but the heartache of constant troubleshooting and tweaking can just suck the fun out of the hobby if you just need this print to succeed.

If you start disassembling, you won’t know what needs the most attention, and you might just get bored and give up, without knowing what printing can do for you.
If you look at soccer, you’ll see a bunch of people passing a ball back and forth and making no progress.
If you look a little closer, you’ll see players trying to bait the opposing team into making a mistake. You’ll see players trying to position themselves to receive or intercept a pass. Others are applying pressure to force the player with possession to make a mistake.
Sometimes that takes a little bit of time, especially if you are winning, your opponents are going to feel that time pressure and you can use that against them. Force them to make a bad move.
Both sides are constantly doing this, they have formations and strategies designed to break the opposing team’s structure.
Team games are all like this, you are trying to control the field and shape it to your advantage.
If you think of it as a war game, with formations and feints and strategies, you might be more amenable to the slower plays.
I’ve started keeping notebooks and post-its around for just this occasion. It’s been working out mostly well, except for that “get a refund “ post it that I’ve had to replace once already due to its age.
80% isopropyl alcohol. Use a soft brush wet with some of the alcohol. Brush around the affected areas.
Let it dry and that’s all for me.
I wouldn’t recommend dousing electronics in less than 90%. Feels sketchy. But I have nothing to back that up besides “electronics cleaner” being 99% iso.
