  • That is part of it, but you also need to practice asking clarifying questions and collaborating around a solution. OP was pretty much guaranteed to fuck up their first go. It’s something that gets easier over time.

    Also, something that really messed me around was that System Design questions have a particular form and expectations around them. So read up on how they flow and practice those too

  • Opinion: Having some highly opinionated, highly polished distros is an excellent gateway for people to jump aboard. Not everything will be how you want it, sure. But that’s how things are on Windows & MacOS right now.

    Immutable distros also help here, preventing goombas like myself from bricking my OS, getting fed up and going back to MS.

    Once you learn the basics with guard rails, you can branch out and fix the issues you really care about.
