    In short: finished up zetsubou sensei, finished up ichigomashimaro, new game, nhk ni youkoso, aria, yurumeitsu, slow start, oomuroke dear friends, tanaka kun chibi version, tamako market/love story, bottle faries, city, ika musume, the new gintama.

    I watched two current shows this year which is a lot for me. I really liked CITY of course. The highlight of the year has to be the whole series ARIA. It's a top 5 anime for me. It does the really special thing where I end up crying without being sad. Suteki!

    In terms of this season I watched the Gintama spinoff. It was definitely worth watching. However, I was watching Ika Musume in between and I did notice that I was more excited on days where I watched Ika-chan. I guess I'm a truly lost cause when it comes to moe.

  • One-Punch Man Season 3's Part 2 Airs in 2027

  • Interesting. I have heard bad things about the animation of this show. I have seen some things by J.C. Staff, and never really struck me as bad. Just some days ago I saw ARIA The CREPUSCOLO and ARIA The BENEDIZIONE done by J.C. Staff. Apart from getting used the different way of drawing faces compared to the other studio, it looked very pretty and I didn't notice any lack of frames.

  • Thanks! Technically it is the other way around. I started learning to be able to understand untranslated Anime. But it is definitely a good way to learn indeed.

    • everyone in barrels: that arc with soul reapers where they were stuffed in barrels

  • I have tried lightly reading some of my ARIA volume, without dictionary or computer. The beginning is very hard because of the exposition. After that it is mostly characters in conversation, which is easier to follow. I think I can understand more than half in those parts. There are also some lines not in bubbles that are hand drawn and without furigana. That's gonna be difficult.

  • What is your best anime-related song?

  • OPs and EDs? It's hard to choose, there are so many good ones.

    Live songs? Yuru Yuri live events are peak seiyuu aidoru especially the first season OP and ED 😤

    Insert songs? I really don't know off the top of my head!

    Songs sung by characters? THAT one from ARIA (not spoiling it). And the songs from K-ON! (also written by them). I also liked the graduation song from Non Non Biyori.

    BGM? ARIA and Hidamiri Sketch have some OST that have vocals and are thus songs technically. Most of them don't have lyrics but if we count it then I pick those.

    Character songs? Probably more Yuru Yuri songs especially the live versions. Lucky Star has great ones especially those where they sing karaoke together.

  • On the other hand, you never know what the high point is. If you have something good and quit just to quit at the high point, you don't know if your next thing would be even better. If you quit when you've already crashed and burned, at least you know it has ran its course. Yet on another hand(if you can say that), with that mindset one might apply the sunken cost fallacy and go on for way too long...

  • It seems we're getting some kind of arc. If they do two episodes then it's a classic Gintama mini arc. Sachi had some of the funniest episodes with Gin and Zura and now he's been brought back and arrested. Maybe I'm asking for too much but it'd be funny to see him in jail.

  • I started watching Shinryaku! Ika Musume! Quite a basic show but the squid girl is cute, what more do you need? I like how it's just the OP at the start and then 3 small stories. It keeps my attention quite well. The squid also has a cute way of speaking de geso! Bye bye de geso!

  • Are there any other anime with beautiful depictions of light and color like in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End?

  • I don't know if it's like Frieren (haven't seen it) but Aria has my favorite light and colour. Especially when golden hour hits... I also hear Frieren is supposedly a slow show. If you like slow, serene and emotional with scoops of aware no mono then Aria is peak.
