  • As both a trans woman and a Hispanic person I can tell you, I'm scared too. This IS the fault of trump voters but abstaining or third party voting made it worse. Is it the main cause? The main problem? No, but swallowing a bitter pill would have maybe saved us some of the pain and fear. I live in texas and I refuse to run, I'll stay here and fight bitterly and hold my nose while making incremental change.

  • I am american, moreso than most realistically. My family has been texan since before even texas was american. I am brown and have a Latin last name, there's a ton of us the same here in texas. In my family the generation before me was the last that inherited spanish from the family and none are fluent (texmex spanglish at best), at least not without schooling.

    This is all to say that my drivers license is on me at all times outside of my house. I carry it everywhere, even on my smoke breaks at work, even when I'm washing my car, even when I'm checking my mail.

    I shouldn't be living like this, I don't deserve to live like this, my rights as an American citizen say I should be protected against this, but here we are.

  • I'm Hispanic in texas, my family has been american since texas became US territory and most of us barely speak any spanish if at all. I carry my ID to check my mail now, walk to the corner store on my lunch break, everywhere. I don't expect these pricks to wait for me to get my ID and that's what they want. Control and fear and I have to capitulate because the alternative bad at best, life destroying or worse.

  • Many people have never met a trans person, they've never shook our hand, spoken to us, nothing. Too many people think of trans women as a man in a dress with tits invading womens rooms, trying to justify their perversion like MAPS do.

    Pick your biggest insecurity and imagine you were born with it outright and there's not much you can do to change it after you've grown past 12. That's what its like. Imagine peeing constantly because of the remedy to this problem but not being able to use public bathrooms. Imagine being too weak to fight the angry men that attack you.

  • I live in texas and transphobia is prevalent enough that misgendering is the norm once people hear my voice. I get looks of disgust often enough that I'm used to it, so yeah it varies from place to place and some people don't know how bad it is because they dont experience it.
