  • The creators of this show take a lot of effort to turn the most unimportant fights into sakuga. IMO, the second part of the episode was far more interesting despite having much less jumping and explosions. I'm probably repeating myself, and I can't say I dislike nice animations, but I wish there was less focus on random fights with cannon fodder and more on the actual plot. I also hope that this Sprigan storyline won't just end with yet another rain of swords. It has a potential for more than that given that this demon lord is much more cunning than any other we've seen so far.

  • I think I'm starting to get a little bit tired with these frequent lingering shots. It's nice to have this once in a while to create a tense atmosphere, but when it's being used all the time it starts to feel more like budget saving measure.

Having that said, I liked how they portrayed Moegi in this episode. Looking at how she reacts to someone raising their voice or making a noise, you can tell that she's someone that has been abused in the past. No wonder she wants her parents dead if they made her into such a mess

  • I was surprised by the lack of Kana's suffering in this episode just as much as Kana was. She even had a chitchat with Aqua and smiled a little! Now, try not to get cast as a replacement for the just killed actress, Kana. That's just more suffering!

  • I'm happy to see Apocalypse Hotel being recognized. Anime originals are usually not as popular, so it's great that it won AOTY. As for the rest of the results, Reze and CITY sweep was quite predictable. Both are visually stunning and have been very well received, and Kusuriya was probably one of the most popular shows last year.

  • First of all, big thanks for making this happen.

As for the factors contributing to lower turnout, I think the following might have affected it:

    • RCV voting system - it's harder to understand than your typical voting system where you only cast one vote for your favorite show. It might be more fair overall, but people might have questions like:
      • does specifying the second, the third choice, and so on, affect the chances of my first choice winning?
      • if I didn't watch all the nominated shows, should I include them in my ballot at all?I think instead of thinking this through, people might just decide that I don't understand this system, I don't want to think about it, so I will not vote at all
    • in the nominations phase: not having a list to choose from, and having to come up with the nominees on your own. I think such list should include not just the titles but also posters to make the search easier (also needs to be mobile friendly)
    • having to edit a markdown file by hand. It might be discouraging on a desktop computer but it's straight up annoying on mobile devices, and I imagine that more than a half of the userbase uses their mobile phones to browse social media.
    • as others already mentioned, the user interface of Lemmy doesn't make it obvious where do you send a private message. Perhaps there's some way to create a direct link, like https://ani.social/create_private_message/5000605 ? But that only works if someone is registered on ani.social. Anyway, if you plan to use private messages in some way again next year, I think it would be a good idea to explain how to send one (which would be challenging anyway, because each mobile client does it in its own way)

Sorry if it came out as overly critical. It wasn't my intention. I know it's hard to come up with a good solution that satisfies everyone and I'm grateful for all the work you've done.

  • At first I thought that the production is finally starting to show sings that the anime has to squish a little bit too much source material into one season, but after finishing the episode I think these rapid transitions worked really well in the context of what is happening in Asa's mind and how she feels like everyone around her is moving on and having something special about them when at the same time she doesn't know what to do with her life. Whether the director has a problem with time constraints or not, it was a really clever measure that fits the narrative well, so hats off to them.

  • Visually it was probably the best episode yet. The backstory of Ju Fa and Tao Fa was really well done. I have a feeling that by humanizing them authors are readying to portray Rien as the only actual villain who coerced everybody around him to do his bidding or got rid of those who opposed him, like in case of Mei. Meanwhile Gabimaru has been bleeding out for two whole episodes now 😅

  • For the first half of the episode you could almost forget that you're watching JJK. Higuruma's introduction was phenomenal. Also, everyone is always glazing the visuals in this show, but I would like to draw attention to the the soundtrack. They did a great job here as well. The part that plays during Amai's flashback from when he met Itadori for the first time is really catchy and will land on my playlist for sure. I often listen to OSTs from the previous seasons and this one will be no exception

  • Don't enable encryption in group chats unless you want to know what meme unable to decrypt message is about

  • I've almost finished it too. My experience with this show is quite similar. I generally don't like stereotypical romances so I was actually surprised when it turned out to be quite tolerable. As for its production value – the VAs performances were very good, the animation was above average for a show of this kind, but nothing impressive compared to some currently airing shounen series, so I wouldn't say it's on par with the best ones of this season when it comes to that. However, all the backgrounds were really impressive (apart from the sea in ep14 – that looked uncanny, like a real footage slapped with a filter) so if you're a background art connoisseur, this show is definitely worth checking out.

  • I barely write anything about this show but only because I have hard time to type out all these feelings it evokes in me. Every week I'm equally amazed by the quality of storytelling and how all technical bits support it so well. That ending got me crying 😭

  • I love how supportive Honda is to Nishi. And she keeps landing those great lines. She's so based 😁

This show has such a great chemistry between the whole cast and every character is so fun in their own right. I was grinning all the time.

  • A slower set-up episode but there were some memeable scenes this week

  • I think this was the best episode aside from episode 1. The flow was more natural and it was finally something different from the continuous bashing of mindless monsters. There was a fight too but this time there actually was some tension. Also Xylo's fiance seems like an interesting character.

  • After the latest update to Spectacle tesseract-devel is no longer needed

  • Turns out it needs tesseract-devel for some reason

  • Must we fill up all 6 slots for each category?

    No

Are we allowed to change our votes after we have submitted our ballots?

    Yes

It's all written in the message with a ballot Kurisu sends you

You can delete categories and nominees as needed if you do not want to cast any vote for them. If you resubmit this form, your existing vote will be overwritten.

  • I like that Kana managed to pick herself up without any interference of a knight in a shining armor. That would feel so cliche.Go Kana! Fuck the haters!

  • For some reason it says that I don't have necessary tesseract dependencies on Fedora, even though I do 😩

  • I'm pretty sure the movie Makio recommended was Fried Green Tomatoes. They don't really even try to hide it much. It's pretty clear that the outline says FriedGreen
