I admit I'm a fan of Jon, well, at least in that I like his show. So I read your comment, and said "oh I'm gonna watch the video and then think to myself how this stranger is wrong."
I don't think you're wrong. I do agree that Jon missed the point. "TV" implies corporations and producers, etc. The audience question was about getting information from social media, e.g. TikTok, which definitely does NOT require journalism, education, or even funding.
Yeah, Jon didn't seem to take the question seriously. I mean I'm going to watch and probably like every Monday show, but he missed this one.
gas only (96% eff), plus SEER 13 A/C - annual heating/cooling $2000
gas + heat pump (w/ SEER 17ish) - annual heating/cooling about $2800 / yr
gas only again, but with solar that "matches" annual electric on cooling only - $700/yr
gas/heatpump/solar "do all the things" around $800/yr
SO
if my goal is to spend the least amount of money over < 15 years - do nothing
if my goal is to spend the least amoutn of money over > 15 years - just add solar
if my goal is to minimize my carbon footprint at all costs - do all the things
the "matches cooling electric" comments means that I sized the panels such that the excess generated in the summer, balances out the deficit in the winter, for solar generation of household electricity. During the winter, there's no heating/cooling electric in the 'gas only' mode

I should mention that, while not major consumers, i AM opting for electric induction range and electric dryer, even though the builder acted like I was weird. most midwest states, outside Chicago city & maybe Minnesota or Iowa, aren't all that progressive on this stuff
I've double-leg amputees, and this amazing dude still looks like he's "missing too much" - especially when he's just resting talking to the camera. Like, I want to see an xray! I feel like there isn't room for some of the abdominal organs.
I very much agree with that first sentence. I think they forget how much they know at a baseline, and can't skip that when talking to a copy-paste idiot like me.
We're seeing that across my commodity chemical market prices too. The prices China offers seem... literally impossible. We are almost certain that China is paying either all the capital for the infrastructure, or just subsidizing 10x harder than we (US/EU) do.
I think the REAL "cheating" example is Spanish & Catalan.
I took 5 years in HS/college, and when I was in the Barcelona airport, I actually asked "why is everything written twice?"
The differences seemed very very minor.
But I speak english poorly, and spanish... not really. So she's still 700% better than me!
I'm not going to watch a video for information - but to essentially agree with you, good person, I assume the general summary went from
