  • The thing is that MLK's legacy, while absolutely awesome, has been appropriated by whites and we're constantly told "he was one of the good ones". Many of MLK's false advocates will conveniently forget that he was the target of the FBI for sowing civil disobedience.

  • Depending on the size of the repo and number of contributors.

Small ones, yeah probably a simple "don't be an asshole" is fine.

It gets harder when your contributors start scaling way up and go international. What might be customary in one culture may be considered rude by another. Allowing for people to be different while also maintaining decorum is important.

I worked on a FOSS project that was very small (~5 devs) and I really had to get used to how upfront the German devs were. We knew each other enough but still.

  • Honestly this needs to be more of things in the States. And the deposit cost needs to go up.

If companies were forced to retake their garbage, we'd see far less pollution.

  • We need more Lower Decks memes.

  • No one becomes a billionaire accidentally. Even if she pays people top dollar, she can charge less at the gate, she could pay her people bonuses on top of their salary. She could donate half of her income to homeless shelters in whatever city she's touring in.

She's a billionaire because she chooses to be.

  • "Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

Conservatives only care about small government when they are the ones being oppressed by the federal government. Like when Congress passed laws banning slavery.

But they care about federal laws being forced onto states when they are the ones doing the oppressing. Like when they passed the Fugitive Slave Act.

They don't care about their hypocrisy and, if anything, makes them want to do it more.

  • You've gotten good answers from other folks but I'll provide a ELI5:

Basically a set of rules in the database to make sure that it is immediately consistent.

NoSQL databases offer eventual consistency in exchange for speed so they are generally not considered to be ACID compliant.

Most traditional databases (MySQL, postgresql, etc.) are.

There are a couple of emerging companies that try to tackle speed for traditional databases. CockroachDB offers a postgress-based database that scales more like NoSQL while still offering ACID transactions.

TiDB is a similar company but for MySQL.

  • It's always two weeks.

Just remember why they do this.

Can you remember what shit Trump said two weeks ago?

They don't expect you to follow up. Reporters have stopped keeping track.

  • Reduce > Reuse > Recycle

Don't skip over Reuse. The coolers are in good condition and odds are even if there was recycling, it would generate more waste than reusing it.

  • Why don't the other nations, who clearly outnumber the security council, create their own governing body?

At this point, the US can't be relied upon to uphold any treaty unless it benefits Trump personally and directly.

  • Would TSMC be considered a competitor to AMD?

  • double checks the community instance

    Yes.........prison

  • But usually killed people.

    ...

    Wait that still tracks.

  • It's only spyware if Google can't monetize it. Which is ironic if you think about it.

  • Ew. Unless your bachelor's is from a for-profit university or a Bible college, that's going to set you back.

Best I can do is for you to LARP as a 2A activist. No pay but you get to feel like you're one of the special ones. At least until we don't need you anymore.

  • Yeah, but, hear me out....what if I told you you're now allowed to be openly racist?

And openly transphobic? Would that sweeten the pot?

  • Which is why I think the next big step is a blogsite that actually covers these without feeling like you are just reading a guy's wank diary

There is a site that I frequent but due to this community's instance rules, I won't post it here.

The site is more of a forum/community than a blog but it's pretty good.

  • There is a saying that a grand jury can indict a ham sandwich.

The fact that the prosecutor couldn't get an indictment not once but thrice is damning.

  • The biggest issue with adult content in games is that it limits your market to adults that want that content. Which is already small to begin with. And you often can't advertise the same way, which limits your audience further. You only find out about them through word of mouth or through places like Lemmy.

From the standpoint of the developer, your ROI is likely to be very small. I think that's why VN are the most popular form of adult games, since they are easier to make than full games.
