  • I remember someone who’s into qanon telling me how george Soros was funding Biden, and Biden was going to usher in a new world order with eugenics and restrictions on where you could go in your 15 min city and all that bullshit. And the Clinton’s were pedophiles yadayada. Only Trump could safe the world from the Democrat cabal of evil

It was Trump and Epstein the whole time.

(These nuts still haven’t come to earth.)

  • It’s a little on the dark side for me but when you’re eating it, it is a pretty small percentage of the bread. The inside of OP’s bread looks lovely, but I might leave some crust, personally. Or dunk in soup and it would be excellent!

It’s virtually impossible to burn bread, as someone early in my bread baking wrote. It just turns out being darker and crustier; the inside cooks much more slowly.

I do find that in my oven and my taste, the 225°C or so that’s recommended is too hot and they come out being a little too crusty. So I preheat to 225 and drop to about 200.

  • One of Musk’s ADHD moments.

I think battery tech will greatly improve. Internal combustion has been refined for at least 120 years and intensively since 1950. Too bad we were focused on one time use fuels instead of rechargeables/solar

If I didn’t have that regular trip, I’d sell my gasser and rent a car for long trips. I already do that if it’s multi day.

  • Charging is very fragmented and generally uncivilized. The need for apps, the range of costs, etc. I think Aging Wheels’s video about long tow with his Chevy is telling - he’s an advocate for EV and there’s still special steps that need to be planned for.

Plugin hybrids can really help with the long trip situation while also allowing full electrical function for short trips - and engines don’t like running for lots of 10 min journeys when they don’t properly warm up.

I am able to afford (the cheapest available) EV for town use and it’s great for that, but I still have a gas car for trips. When I go road tripping, I’m a person for whom stopped time is wasted time. Fuel, meals, and toilet in 10 min. I’m bad at stopping to smell the roses. I don’t mind the option but I frequently do a trip that has no charging at the destination, and is 350km away. Easy to round trip with gas. Not so much with electric.

  • In those 47 days he lost 17lbs. Thats a kilo a week.

She’s made 20 complaints in recent months. She should be charged.

DAs are inexplicably judged based on the number of convictions they have. Perverse incentives.

  • It’s no bubble, it’s just that nobody wants a Hummer EV, and in this economy, who can afford one? EVs are still selling in quite well in Europe and Asia. Did any automakers fund democrat PAC exclusively?

Literal decades of marketing telling Americans that they need a (high margin and emissions exempt) pickup truck to drive their kids to school still hasn’t overridden basic economics.

  • I agreed but CFAA says prison time for counting in a URL. Thats just the first CFAA abuse that popped into my mind and I can’t find the reference, because it’s 20 years old now. iPhone users info leaked at AT&T by simply incrementing

  • You don’t say.

  • I think Brazil gave out 400.000

  • Less than 1/4 kilo. I just cut it in half, roughly it works out. Don’t ask me about stones though.

  • 100%. They look at Dubai and UAE and see opportunity

  • If the only way an industry could survive is through immigration, it is obvious that there needs to be a legal path for the skilled workers to immigrate. Maybe this should have been considered before the deportation surge.

But I suspect given the sponsors of this legislation that this is unlikely to have a path to citizenship and will amount to indentured servitude.

  • It is unlikely that you will agree on everything. Given enough time, a bit of stress, and some sleep deprivation, it’s inevitable that a disagreement will occur.

The “all relationships have fights” idea is rooted in the idea that total lack of disagreement can point to a communication problem, that is, spouses don’t share their opinion and feelings fully, which leads to a longer term resentment and long term problems.

  • Mmmm I love the smell of dumpster juice while I’m eating.

  • Fox News Entertainment

  • Once it’s below -5 it’s just cold. The range 10° above that has the possibility of being a damp cold and that sucks the life out of you

  • I addressed both depreciation and maintenance.

When I purchase a car, I pay, for example, $50,000. If I enter that as an asset, I need to depreciate it as time and mileage add up - ($10,000) year one, (5000) year two.

If I consider the payments simply as a cost, without considering the value of the vehicle as an asset, I don’t need to consider depreciation. It’s right there on the books as (50,000) in 2026. So that $800 for car payments plus insurance is the total cost of the vehicle. This calculation would only be a problem while I have money owing on the vehicle and try to sell it - which I personally won’t do. I’d rather own a car for 15-20 years if I can.

  • My electric car costs about us$25 to charge and US$800 to finance and insure monthly. My other car is owned outright and is under $100 for fuel, and $100 for insurance. I’m disregarding depreciation because it’s about cash in hand, and including maintenance puts it about $1000-1100 total.

I think it’s not unreasonable, but you need to assume a fairly short commute. With a pickup truck doing marathon 60 mile commutes, it’s more like $2000 for sure. Per car.
