  • I found this podcast as a really good primer. Specifically episodes 11a,b,c,d for the french revolution and episode 16 for the British transfer to a bourgeois state. But that is like 6 and a half hours of podcast.

  • After studying the french revolution and the british "revolution" in more detail this book made way more sense to me. (also this book makes that history make way more sense because most of the writing on them was done by idiot idealists and bourgeoisie.)

  • A year ago during the "unaccountable and inconsistent moderation" Struggle sessions I was willing to think it was just a random mistake that put the wrong people into power. But those struggles were never resolved and they just kept banning people and addressing "issues" that were not the real problem.

    Now here we are where trashing China and staning for a democratic party NYC mayoral candidate are the norm.

    If anything the Vanguard of Posters have been ejected from power and the "chill vibes" crypto-liberals are running the place.

  • Colonial cultures means the colonizers not the colonized. and as I said that part of the discussion was about the origins of martial arts and how they have changed and been regimented. So even though Thailand was never colonized it interacted with Colonial powers and the interaction caused changes in Muay Thai.

  • Not directly related but I found this talk really interesting and informative. Its about "liberation martial arts." They mention Muay Thai occasionally. At 19:25 the interviewee talks about the origins of martial arts and how they were mostly just "off balancing" games and the "striking/submission" martial arts are creations of colonial/hegemonic cultures.

    Just an interesting talk all round.

  • If you don't see the command structures in the Gaza Resistance your aren't looking or don't understand what you are looking at.

    1. They are still doing ambushes and even doing raids on idf camps.
    2. They are still releasing edited videos of their actions despite there being a internet blackout in Gaza. This is from friday.
    3. The resistance are still recruiting and training new fighters
    4. They are still using the correct weapons for the job meaning they are not having weapon supply issues.
    5. They are still manufacturing new weapons. They came up with a new smaller hand delivery device because the big ones were too hard to get into open tank hatches. It has been featured in videos from multiple brigades from different parts of the strip meaning they are not just innovating and developing new tools they are sharing those tools and methods between different resistance cells.

    The thing that pisses me off about the whole "its not a war its a genocide" thing is not just that it isn't true or even that it is just a pointless "AKTCHALY" debate pervert reddit parrot talking point that doesn't elevate anyone's understanding.

    What gets me the most angry is that it strips the Palestinians of their agency and makes them victims. The people who want to cast them as victims are doing it because it justifies their own inaction. In their mind the Palestinians are victims who cant do anything and western leftists are just victims of capitalism so they don't have any responsibility either.

    Next you are going to tell me that the Korean war wasn't a war and neither was Iraq. If you had ever read a history book you would know that massive amounts of civilian causalities are the norm and The Ukraine situation is the odd one out.   • Fuck off. The 2 are not mutually exclusive. Yes there is a holocaust going on but that does not mean there is not a war happening too. The Resistance is fighting a guerrilla war bravely and effectively. They are why the idf cannot occupy Gaza. The Resistance are why the idf hasn't been able to ethnically cleanse all of Palestine. Saying they are not fighting a war is not just a semantic argument it is a lie and it is entirely disrespectful and dismissive of the people who are standing up against the imperialist system.
