  • "Until and unless we have environmentalist politics that puts labor at the center it will be a politics of authoritarianism."

  • 3 minutes in and I checked out. Anyone who compulsively pushes the "Russia is the aggressor" and "Russia thought they would win in 3 days" lines isn't worth my time.

  • Yeah an apartment in a major city in China costs like 2 years wages where in usa it is like 20 years wages.

  • what AES adjacent source is saying that China's wages have increased exactly 500% over 30 years?

This graph was created by people who worked for Black Rock, Goldman Sachs, JP morgan and Guchi they are not an AES adjacent source.

  • This is why we have to build a vanguard party. Not all the working class can/will/need to understand dialectical materialism.

Vibes based Comrades can be safely kept out of the loop and called in at a moments notice. Your party needs to have a person who can harness vibes and direct those people where needed. That was what Lenin did with trosky.

Can you imagine the headaches involved in managing trostky?

  • That would imply that usa has better missiles. They don't and we know this because up until quite recently there were arms control treaties which meant that all the research and tests that usa was doing were being watched.

Their recent tests of hypersonic missiles and their inability to produce enough air defense misslies shows that they don't have the capability to create new better secret missiles or even make enough old missles to keep up[ to demands.

The usa's inability to increase production of shells, long range guns, armored vehicles, etc. all show that america doens't have the industrial capability to even produce enough basic weapons. They can't even produce enough of weapons based on 80 years old tech.

Even if somehow they did have more advanced missiles they wouldn't' be capable of producing enough to change the tide of the war.

and all that doesn't even factor in the new export restrictions on critical rare earth minerals that china has a virtual monopoly on.

  • The change has been happening for over a year. This time last year the admin team was picking off/driving out quality power posters and while pulling in libs from blue sky and reddit. Remember when they tried to permaban Awoo? That was not a one off it was just them finding the limits of who they could purge in their quest to liberalize the community.

  • It gets mentioned from time to time.

My neurodivergent configuration likes an audio book while doing stuff that doesn't require the language processing part of my brain. So I listen to things a few times over while going for a walk, playing certain video games (freecell), working in the garden etc. Then a bit of discussion in case there were some things other people noticed that I didn't.

  • Bring chewing gum to class. Your teeth will thank you for not grinding them into powder.

  • Meanwhile 95% of companies in usa don't see productivity gains from AI. Its like giving a construction worker a box of screws and a few hours later they tell you, "those fancy nails keep breaking when I hammer them in."

  • So you trust the IMF, World Bank and OECD to crunch the numbers on PPP? You trust the company "Visual Capitalist"? They torture numbers into pretty images for money and are proud to have done so for Black Rock, Goldman Sachs, JP morgan and Guchi to name just a few of their "partners."

Forget the numbers for China for a second, Do you actually believe that american households had 29% increase in their wages compared to living standards over the last 30 years? As you said we all know how america is doing and the trend over the last 30 years is not upwards.

Again maybe china has a 500% increase in wages adjusted to cost of living but maybe it is closer to 1000% or maybe it is only 300% but usa is negative 30%.

I don't trust the methodology of the infographic. I especially do not trust a single person involved in the production of these numbers and the more I look into it the more I am convinced that nobody should.

  • hexbear needs an intervention. They've been huffing social fascism and electoralism and it is destroying their lives and relationships.

  • PPP is the product of statistical analysis. So what we have is analysis stacked on another statistical analysis with a currency conversion squeezed in there somewhere. I just feel like there are too many moving parts for this analysis to be taken too seriously.

  • it was made by Vasily Khvostenko according to reddit.

  • Some really interesting points in this talk. Beebe's answer to the question of what happens if a political end isn't found is interesting. Russia might just take the areas they want and dig in while sending missiles to keep ukraine destroyed and uninhabitable.

  • I dunno about this. "PPP adjusted international dollars (2017)" sounds suspiciously like they tortured the numbers until they said what the statistician wanted.

  • The collapse will come no matter what you do so it is better to spend your effort to make the outcome better by organizing and raising class consciousness. america is already going down really fast and there is no obvious counter to the fascists. The harder you and other american comrades work the less suffering will result from the inevitable fascist stage.

  • Is it just me or does this feel like a true story?

also found this higher res version if you want it.

  • You think Hunter uses all that crack and prostitutes because he has no trauma and learned healthy coping skills?
