  • My Note 20 Ultra (US) came out like 5+ years ago and you can't unlock the bootloader. There was a workable hack job that was possible for a little while, but even that got patched up through a firmware update back in like 2021, and there's no way to roll back firmware anymore, either.

  • Literally anyone who simply wants their privacy.

  • You realize how many things have gotten shittier since android 11? Accubattery isn't even allowed to monitor everything using up juice any more. You can't customize your own charging curves, you're locked out of accessing portions of your storage on your own phone, and a lot of great power user apks had to completely hit themselves or just stop working all together.

What do you need from after 11 that an apk wouldn't have allowed you to do already?

  • That's barely a viable option without using apples own walled garden.

  • It was a 50 year old guy in a wheelchair that had a revolver in his shoe. He through it at the roach and the gun fell out and discharged, shooting him in the foot.

  • Well sure, it could have been something he drank, or maybe he wanted to kill himself and took something on purpose. We'll probably end up finding out more at some point.

  • By how it reads, it kind of looks like more of a Jack-ass situation if voluntary abuse. There was some mention of him getting shot with paint balls. Also, the autopsy report said he had no trauma.

  • Alive, but not growing.

  • There was only half a giraffe. It didn't say half a giraffe and some molecules.

  • The few options that exist (along with their negatives) can't be installed on my phone. N20U is still pretty much locked down.

  • Catie can STFU because she doesn't know what a question mark looks like.

  • If it's frictionless, then a proper scientist already knows it's in a perfect vacuum.

  • Lol. Fantastic, but I gotta switch hands sometimes for my pinky.

  • I require my banking app to work.

  • I really thought that particular card would get patched in. It was so popular and a lot of machines from that timeframe aren't win 11 supported.

  • Nokia bar phones didn't need a case on em.

  • Fairphone advertised itself as a long term upgradeable option, but the reality of it is that no one really keeps them longer than many other phones. They dropped pretty much any modular upgrade features they originally were shooting for.

I don't hate it or anything, but having 8 years of security updates in a phone that's 2 years behind on an apu and only has 8GB of ram is a mixed bag of usefulness. It's good, but you're left paying $900 for a $400 phone, hardware wise.

  • Thanks. I was planning on just going to Mint, but I may go for Bazzite instead by the sounds of it.

  • About 5 million people is good. I was on Digg as it grew and became shit. I was on reddit as it grew and then became shit. Once the active user base goes over ten or fifteen million people, things start going down hill. Advertisers and bots and mods that can't keep up and too much outside press and governments mentioning the platform with unwanted attention.

Right now things are OK for general news and info, but not big enough for more unique communities. Like I can't go to a community within lemmy to find another thousand+ people all about yo-yo's, but reddit has r\throwers with over 40k subscribers so I can go this "stout guy" show me how to do a new trick.
