  • Ok, so your second link, about the carrier not able to launch F-35s, you do realize that isn't a problem with the F-35, right? The article states that the capability requires a major refit, but that refit hasn't occurred because the carrier is still on what may have been the longest carrier deployment in history. So they just haven't had a chance to do the refit. I don't see how you could say that's a problem with the aircraft.

And your third link about F-35 shipping without radar, that appears to not actually be happening, at all. Just according to the very article you linked. Did you read the article right?

So the program has gone on a long time and it has gone way over budget, that's all quite true, I doubt anyone would dispute that.

But some of your sources here are just bad, they aren't really supporting your position.

  • Honestly, I didn't realize how many F-35s were already in service. I thought we were still at the beginning of their rollout. But it turns out we have more F-35s than F-15s at this point.

The F-22, while totally awesome, was never really going to be the primary fighter for the airforce, it's just too damn expensive.

And the F-16, that'll probably be in service for decades still. It's just so good at what it does at a relatively low cost per unit. The F-35 can take point, spot targets and relay targeting data, and the F-16s can use that to fire missiles from extreme range. It's a pretty good system really.

  • Well I respect that, absolutely. I just don't think I could do it.

And I don't know, I guess I have a hard time letting go of reputation, like as a general concept. If you don't retain some identity online, you lose that aspect of reputation.

  • It's the mainstay of the US airforce. We can't all fly F-22s or stealth bombers.

  • God damn, well played.

  • Well done.

Did you try every letter up to "s", or did you get it on the first try?

  • Well I think I speak for the youth when I say

Six seven six seven six seven six seven six seven six seven six seven six seven six seven six seven six seven...

  • Underated comment.

  • I think the word "if" is doing some heavy lifting there. I can't really see it happening.

  • Does that not strike you as boring?

Like do you identify in any way with that moniker?

I feel like I would forget my username.

    It started as simply cocopuff

Side note, whatch what happens when this baby panda sneezes! Omg it's so cute!

  • You'd be surprised. Look up "operation desert fox".

This particular instance is a bit strange, because Sadam Hussein had constructed anti-aircraft batteries atop hospitals, so it's kinda on him. But regardless, that didn't stop us from blowing away those buildings on day one.

  • For all of us we didn't know there was a choice, we were all infants at the time the choice was made. We were still figuring out which amorphous blob gives us the milk.

This is why others decide on sex for us through observation. That much is sensible enough, infants are not great at that kind of thing. But we're discovering more and more that this is an imperfect system and that more often than we realized the answer is not straight forward or in fact that our conclusions are sometimes incorrect even when it appears straight forward.

  • Uh, are you thinking of the same US military I am?

I bet if I looked hard enough I could find the specific examples of the US bombing schools and hospitals in Iraq.

  • I would think that ripping 1000L of water out of an environment in a day is going to have more immediate impacts than you eventually pissing on a cactus is going to fix…

Well... It all depends on what you do with the water. Are you sequestering it in some way or are you releasing it? I mean, if the community drank 1000 liters of water, then their next piss is 100% going to fix it. Even watering crops is just releasing the water.

just as damaging as removing 1000L of water a day from a lake and thinking the ecosystem will be fine because you’re going to sweat next to the dry lakebed.

Again, if you're going to sweat 1000 liters, then go for it, I fully endorse this plan. Use as much water as you want, it's fine unless you're shipping it out.

  • Ironic big dick energy.

  • If you plan on drinking the water, or cooking with the water, it's going right back into the air after you pee or sweat and the water evaporates. Literally no damage done.

You cannot make the water actually disappear unless you use it in some kind of chemical reaction, and even then it may end up returning to water eventually.
