  • It's not a civil war until the citizens start shooting back, until then it's just oppression.

  • VanlifePlus, or as the channel is now known, MATV. I started watching because I had an interest in Van Life. Regardless of your opinion on Van Life, it was a good channel, as he really showed what it was like to live in a van, and trying to navigate fatherhood as well as a full time job, etc. Matthew is very personable, and likeable. He explored not only places to stay in a van, but actual camping in a van as well.

He finally made enough money from YouTube to get his own place, and now he's only part time in the van, and is trying to get a gaming channel going, as well as building out a trailer for camping. I still find him likeable, but his content just isn't doing it for me anymore. I can see that the views on his channel are going down, so it's just a matter of time before he either has to quit YouTube and get a full time job, or supplement his YouTube with a job on the side. The content just isn't there anymore.

  • He needs to be careful with that rhetoric, or they will use it against him. They could say that Fox News is an extension of the RNC, and just simply list all of the people he's hired that are former Fox News people. I'm fairly certain he's the dumbest president we've had, even more so than Bush Jr.

  • This is the right answer. Trump is absolutely a piece of garbage, and I think he was wrong for attacking Iran, but at this point I don't think he's broken any laws by attacking Iran.

  • Prince William also wore a blue suit, so did many others if you watch the actual video of the event.

  • Prince William also wore a blue suit

  • Explain Like I'm Five @lemmy.world

ELI5: If Trump claims he won in 2020, wouldn't the 22nd amendment make him ineligible to be president for this upcoming term?

  • My fear, would be that Trump would use it as an excuse to invade Greenland, giving him what he ultimately wants anyway.

  • Apologies, I missed that he said he had a 13.

  • 18.1 has some minor things, but the big ones are in 18.2. You will probably still not use them, but until you update, you probably won't see them.

  • I saw a video where they panned to the right, and it looked like a hydraulic line on a nearby lift was hit.

  • That's the biggest thing this country is missing right now. It's OK to disagree with other people, but for some reason, people seem to think they are enemies because they disagree. We are all individuals, with our own views on everything. There isn't a single person in the world that I agree with 100% on everything. To assume that anyone I disagree with is somehow evil, or my enemy, is insane.

  • If you're going to follow the Bible, make sure you're not picking and choosing the parts you want to follow. If the commands from your god are that important, you can't ignore half of them.

2 Kings 6:28-29 But then the king asked, “What is the matter?” She replied, “This woman said to me: ‘Come on, let’s eat your son today, then we will eat my son tomorrow.’ So we cooked my son and ate him. Then the next day I said to her, ‘Kill your son so we can eat him,’ but she has hidden her son.

Psalm 137:9 Blessed the one who seizes your children and smashes them against the rock: the children represent the future generations, and so must be destroyed if the enemy is truly to be eradicated

Leviticus 25:44-46 “Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.”

1 Timothy 2:11-12“A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.”

  • I've also been saying this for a while. If the people who hate him quit talking about him, they will quit advertising for him. Let him be forgotten. I honestly hear significantly more people and news media who are against him, talking about him, than I do people in favor of him. Don't let him live in your head rent free. Talk about the person who you DO want as president. Talk about the things that are important to you, that your candidate is for. Don't talk about the other guy. Let his name fade into history.

  • I agree with you, the entire thing was a farce. There's no way he LEGITIMATELY got 88% of the vote. Just another dictator, doing dictator things.

  • According to the article, this was his biggest win yet

  • That's been my guess for quite awhile now. His platform didn't make a ton of sense, and he frequently said similar things as Trump, while not wanting to put down Trump for the most part. Love him or hate him, Christie was one of the loudest voices on the right that talked negatively about Trump. Don't get me wrong he's still garbage, but at least he spoke out against him, which is tough for a Republican candidate to do. Vivek on more than one occasion refused to do that. I wouldn't be surprised to see him as the VP pick.

  • I'm extremely torn about this. First of all, I've been saying for a long time, that the biggest problem with the American health system is the costs of everything, and not the lack of insurance. Bring the costs down, and insurance is either not needed, or should be able to be procured much more cheaply, so this move will help with that, which is a good thing.

Second, patents are in place for a reason. If you invent something, you have the right to sell it, at least for a period of time, without it being ripped off by someone else. Patents are used all the time, all around the world, and are typically protected. This is a form of theft, and I think a possible slippery slope, as it sets a precedent going forward. And yes, I'm aware that they are doing this with drugs funded by the taxpayers. If they want to do this, it should be a stipulation when the company gets the government funding, and not done after the fact.
