  • Why is it Democrats responsibility to get progressives to vote in primaries? If you don't vote, politicians don't care about your opinions.

  • We are back to the original point that people are so determined to blame Democrats that they sabotage their own efforts to get something better.

  • People should have been planty enthusiastic to get anyone but Trump as President, but that shows how strong the misinformation machine is.

Personally I've always favored a system like Australia where voting is compulsory and punished with a small fine. That filters out the principled from the merely lazy.

  • I would argue that it is the civic duty of a citizen to vote. Enthusiasm is irrelevant.

  • I've gotten more down votes saying exactly this.

In 2020 Biden won with 81.3 million votes. In 2024 Trump won with 77.3 million votes. All we had to do to avoid the mess we are in is turn out with the same "enthusiasm" we had for Biden in 2020.

  • The only ones that want us to believe that are the fascists. If they can keep us fighting each other, we won't be able to fight them.

  • There is no left or right anymore. There are only fascists and antifascists.

  • There is an inherent distrust of government in the US probably based on how our country started. Even if it's an illusion, we like the idea of making it as hard as possible for the government to track us. Same reason we we resist universal gun registration as well.

  • Federal courts yes, but state courts not necessarily. Trump's favorite tactic has been to run out the clock with constant appeals and lawsuits. Now state courts can use that trick against him. Fight everything he does tooth and nail in the state courts where he doesn't have the judges in his pocket. Sure the Supreme Court will overturn most unfavorable decisions, but that takes time for appeals to get that far.

  • There's always a next vote. That must have slipped the minds of 6/9 of the court.
