  • I do not think the USA is uniquely misogynist. It's not like the USA is more misogynist than Mexico and they elected a woman as president. South Korea is at the forefront of misogyny; Andrew Tate is considered tame there, and they had a woman president.

I bet if your manager was presented with a woman president was promised universal healthcare would vote for her. The sentiment would likely be, "Yeah, I don't like her attitude, but I'll take the healthcare" or something along those lines.

Good policies will win over bigotry every single time. The USA, beacon of chattel slavery, elected a black man twice because he promised a better future.

  • Bro, the AI delusion is destroying the USA. Environmental protections are being rolled back to power it. It's inflating US econony with fake deals. It is being shoved in our faces by clueless C-suite admin.

The Tech Bros are the ones repeating over and over again that "GenAI" is the future while outputting garbage at real human cost. This artist wants to express their frustration with the constant badgering.

  • I must be misunderstanding your meaning because it sounds like you are claiming this tech will eventually become advanced enough to kill people all on its own. I'm making the argument it's the people controlling the tech who will kill us, regardless of what the tech can or cannot do. The tech is largely irrelevant here.

  • Different people can have similar opinions. Nothing is lost from multiple people expressing similar ideas in different ways. I'm glad my comment resonated with you, but maybe someone else will better understand this idea from chuckleslord's explanation.

  • The danger here is not the tech developing into an uncontrollable beast that will kill us all. There is no way that GenAI can advance far enough to develop conciousness; that's a completely different tech tree. It is not a baby whose development we need to guide, it is a puppet dancing on strings.

The danger is the people in positions of power who are pulling the strings. The idiot C-level admin who thinks GenAI will magically develop consciousness and replaces a bunch of essential staff. The incompetent CEO who can't write an email to save their life believes GenAI is just as useful for all their workers and forces workers to babysit AI Agents. The unscrupulous politicians who relax regulations to allow AI companies to suck up resources that the rest of us need. These are all people who will benefit from the GenAI boom at the cost of literally everyone else.

The focus should be on these irrational, powerful people who are destroying the planet and ruining lives to make their puppet dance a little more convincingly.

  • GenAI doesn't "know" anything. A 15 year old who spends a year copying his friend's physics homework will learn a tiny bit of physics. GenAI is just generating something new without actually learning information.

It's a fancy auto-complete that looks at the entirety of human writing and guesses what word should come next based on statistical probability. That isn't learning, that's rolling dice 10,000 times and seeing what number comes up most often.

GenAI cannot "intend" anything. It cannot develop consciousness any more than Akinator or a Tickle-Me Elmo can. The correct way to handle this technology is to treat it with reality: as a tool that can quickly look at a lot of stuff and not as a developing mind.

  • I am sure you understood the threat Trump and the Republican party represented back in 2024; why didn't the Democratic party? The behavior of the Dems did not reflect the threat posed by the Republicans. If the Democratic party were trying to actually win, they would have stuck with popular policies like prosecuting grocery chains for price gouging. Instead, the Dem party tried to attract the nonexistent "Moderate Conservative" by cozying up to the Cheneys and snubbing their left wing.

It really seems like the Dems would rather lose to fascists than win with progressives.

  • Do you not find it suspicious that 7 Dems voted to continue funding the DHS? The exact number needed to pass the bill? Dem leadership can talk big game about not supporting ICE or how dissapointed they are, but when they publicly announce they aren't going to whip votes for no, it does feel like the Dem leadership is tacitly supporting ICE.

  • They sure as hell didn't act like they wanted to win. Dancing around with Liz Cheney or promising stricter border control doesn't exactly scream winning strategy to me. The Dems started out with the very popular idea of going after grocery chains that were gouging customers, but dropped that line of messaging after Kamala spoke with her brother in law who is an Uber exec.

  • Maybe the dems should have taken the threat seriously instead of presenting a candidate that promised fuck all. We wouldn't be in this situation if the Democrats pushed progressive policies instead of promising "stricter border control" or "most lethal military".

  • There is no solution that will prevent a minority of greedy people from trying to take from others. We fight the same battles our parents fought and our children will have to fight those same battles as will their children. The only hope is to make sure enough people are educated as to why publicly regulated institutions are important to protect and pass those lessons down to the next generation.

  • If the DNC wanted immigrants to vote for Harris, they should not have messaged that they will build the wall and prosecute immigrants. Instead, they courted racists who obviously decided to vote for Trump promising Hitler style mass deportations.

If the DNC wanted the peace lovers to vote for Harris, they should not have advertised accepting the Cheneys. Instead, they welcomed the architect of the War on Terror with open arms while Trump lied about being a peaceful dove who never caused any wars.

If the DNC wanted the disaffected youth to vote for Harris, they should have promised change. Instead, they promised that nothing will change, that the economy is doing great right now, actually, while Trump represents a sledgehammer to our society. A horrible change that will affect everyone negatively, but he just lied about the negative bit.

If the DNC wanted progressives to vote for Harris, they should have adopted progressive policies. Instead, they aggressively courted "Moderate Republicans" with stuff like promising to put more Republicans in the Harris Cabinet. The people who want more Republicans in positions of power are obviously just going to vote for Republican administration.

The DNC threw away every advantage they had. Their messaging was, "We're only a little bit better than the Conservatives" and people believed them. The informed voter obviously knows that Trump is 1000x worse than Harris, but most people aren't well-informed. The DNC failed to understand that and failed to inform the voter base, instead relying on the psychopathic message of, "It votes for the Harris or it gets the Trump again".

  • Naww, people don't like Hitler shit. The average Trump voter has been tricked into supporting stuff like "mass deportation", but once you ask 'em about specifics, they are not on board.

The problem is that the DNC didn't call any of this stuff out. The Democrats should have constantly asked, "How are you gonna do mass deportations of 20 million immigrants? Are you gonna kidnap people from their homes? You gonna put them in concentration camps at the border? Tattoo numbers for easy organization?"

The DNC failed in their messaging of calling out the Hitler shit, instead choosing to adopt the Hitler shit. "We're gonna build the wall to keep bad immigrants out. We're gonna deport the bad immigrants who are here. We won't build camps though, only because that would be economically unfeasible."

  • The Stay At Home Party is humongous every election. They represent a giant source of potential that the DNC keeps ignoring in favor of trying to sway some Conservatives. The DNC is picking at crumbs when almost half the cake is sitting on the table.

  • I agree that people are stupid for not understanding how terrible Trump was and will be. However, I think a big problem was that the DNC didn't provide an attractive alternative to excite these dummies.

There was very obviously support for Harris early on when the DNC made some progressive decisions. Getting rid of Biden was a progressive choice. Choosing Tim Walz was a progressive choice. The DNC was immediately rewarded for these progressive choices with $1 billion in small donor donations.

The DNC got arrogant and decided to aggressively move in a conservative direction. Harris started talking about how she would build the wall and prosecute immigrants. The DNC welcomed the Cheneys with open arms. Harris told interviewers that she would be more conservative than Biden by accepting more Republicans in her Cabinet.

The DNC actively threw away their progressive supporters and gained absolutely nothing in return because the voters they were courting would never have voted for Harris anyway. Racists gonna vote Trump. Moderate conservatives gonna secretly vote Trump. People who want Republicans in a Presidential Cabinet are obviously gonna vote Trump.

If the DNC just focused on stuff like being pro choice or going into detail about fighting price gouging, that would have been much more successful than trying to attract the mythical "Moderate Conservative".

  • The DNC has fumbled the bag to an epic degree. You are right that this should have been a slam dunk, easy win for the DNC. Unfortunately, the DNC also thought this race was easily won, so they just stopped trying.

The DNC made overtures toward conservative voters. "We're gonna build the wall" or "we're welcoming the Cheney's into our coalition". They needed to run on hope and change to activate low propensity voters. Instead, they ran on harm reduction without offering to change things for the better. The message was, "Trump is 100% Hitler, vote for us because we're only 90% Hitler".

The least the DNC could have done was lie about doing nice things.
